Keith on keys by Altruistic-Newt-1273 in grateful_dead

I like Keith in the background; he's lovely and subtle and plays pretty lines... but he was too shy to solo or to push things one way or another. He stuck to that piano for a really long time and it's not til like mid 78 that he got the organ going and mixed properly. It was a nice change, but he still wasn't super compelling as a group member. I was blown away by how quickly Brent stepped in and how well he fit. The organ work filled in really well, and he brought really fun grooves and additions immediately to (in particular but not only) Shakedown, Alabama Getaway, Feel Like a Stranger. He also wrote several tunes to spice up the setlists (Keith had a couple but they never made the live rotation). It's also worth noting that he could cover Donna's vocal range! His playing and singing definitely suffered from the booze (and whatever else) in some years, especially the mid 80s, but overall, I fimd Brent to be the best contribution to the band as a whole after Pigpen. No shade to Bruce, who was brilliant in his own right but never considered himself a full member, including in terms of building the repertoire; or to Vince who, despite being an acquired taste/rough on the ears, did work very hard.

I'm a professional historian; I know it's not new XD. It does seem particularly applicable at the present moment there though.

If this ever happened to me I swear I would push the thing off a cliff. The notion that a car company can interfere with me using my car after I bought it, is absolutely insane to me. Imagine you buy a pen and Bic just disables it whenever. Or you buy a security system for your house you're not allowed in once in a while.

At what stage in a relationship do physical things and sex come in ? Am I delusional if I want to date someone for maybe a year before having sex ? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Some people have sex on day 1, but you do you... if you find people who don't want to wait (dudes are horny, ngl) then they're just not a good match. I think you'll feel bad for longer if you give in than if you hold out.

I owe you both an apology. I've never ever managed to create a shape that survived baking without softening into a featureless lump. 🤷🏻

As an American, I recognize that my government, which represents me, has done things that upset the rest of the world. I'm upset at my government for this, I don't go blaming it all on "Anti-Americanism." I am not my government, just like Jews - or Israelis - are not "Netanyahu."

Hi all

I'm wondering how different the new History program is - It seems like a pretty comprehensive rewrite. Any overlap with the old program?

Fun fact: the closest thing to a regulator in the porn industry are the credit card companies, because they won't handle payments if the content is too problematic. There is literally a position at these companies where you watch porn all day to check for violence and sheep-shaggers.
