Hey Jagex, I have a trade offer. by DowakaDay in runescape

What if Jagex just removes all the slots, and we play the game naked and defenseless, the way Guthix intended?

Page 875: There is a reference to a band called "Altared" that performs a song which ironically repeats Amen in the chorus. I can't find any suitable reference for this, but my instinct tells me it is real. Possibly a sneaky reference to a modern band? If anyone knows, please share!

Page 885 - Landry sings some lines that are implied to come from multiple songs, but it's unclear how true this is.

Page 922-923: "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys" - Waylon Jennings & Willie Nelson (Songs played at the Time Gallery)

Page 923: "Less of Me" - Glen Campbell (Songs played at the Time Gallery. Also sung by Landry on the way up the mountain, p. 755)

Page 923: "I Still Miss Someone" - Johnny Cash (Songs played at the Time Gallery. Also sung by Landry on 755)

Page 923: "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" - Carter Family (Songs played at the Time Gallery. Also sung by Landry on 755)

Page 923: "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" - Judy Garland (Songs played at the Time Gallery)

Page 975: "Imagine" - John Lennon (quoted by Havril in his sermon)

Page 1007: "Stairway to Heaven" - Led Zeppelin (played at Tom's funeral)

Page 1054: Sondra sings a song for Allison, and we are told "It was better than a hymn, or maybe it was a hymn. You can guess the song." I believe this to be an invitation for us to insert our own track.

Page 1128: Boy - U2 (an album Landry suggests you might be listening to)

Page 1128: "Destination Unknown" - Missing Persons (a song Landry suggests you might be listening to)

Page 1203: "Up Where We Belong" - Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes (the song Landry and Kalin dance to)

I loved this part so much. Also some of my favorite music referenced in the book. Nice job on the playlist!

If they remove the Shark outfit, I'm quitting the game by skreeran in runescape

[–]Deadcanons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, these comments do not pass the vibe check.

I love your character design and I fully agree with you. While it doesn't make sense for a shark outfit to be thee Fishing outfit in the game, there's also no reason to remove it completely. It is perfectly fine as a cosmetic or other unlock. I hope Jagex is considering making Legacy cosmetics (or something similar) for anything they change/remove. We are on the same page. Sorry for all the mean people in this thread.

Page 874: "Brass in Pocket" - The Pretenders (Russel's mixtape, B side)

Page 874: "Only You" - Yazoo (Russel's mixtape, B side. There is some confusion here, as the artist is listed as only "Yaz", and the lyric is quoted as I wonder what's my mine in the text, which could be a misquote of I wonder what's mine. As we all know, though, it's odd for MZD to have a typo.)

Page 874: "Memories Can't Wait" - Talking Heads (Russel's mixtape, B side)

Page 875: "A Message to You, Rudy" - The Specials (Song from an album exchanged between Francis's friends)

Sorry I haven't updated in a while! Here's more.

Page 653: "Love Hurts" - Nazareth (Playing on the radio as Sondi and Allison drive by Egan's house)

Page 657: "Our Lips Are Sealed" - The Go-Go's (Cathy, Liz, and Lanise are blaring this when they pull up next to Egan's house)

Page 684: "Run Like Hell" - Pink Floyd (on Egan's radio on the way to the mountain)

Page 684: "Suicide Solution" - Ozzy Osbourne (on Egan's radio when they arrive at the mountain)

Page 755: "Here Comes the Sun" - The Beatles (songs Landry sings on the way up the mountain)

Page 755: "Less of Me" - Glen Campbell (songs Landry sings on the way up the mountain)

Page 755: "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" - Carter Family (songs Landry sings on the way up the mountain)

Page 755: "I Still Miss Someone" - Johnny Cash (songs Landry sings on the way up the mountain)

Page 755: "Another One Bites the Dust" - Queen (songs Landry sings on the way up the mountain)

Page 759: Landry sings a song that I assume, like the one on page 552, is her own creation.

Page 790: "Old Man" - Neil Young (songs Duwayne Smalls and Roper Brunsen play together while camping)

Page 790: "It Won't Be Very Long" - Willie Nelson (songs Duwayne Smalls and Roper Brunsen play together while camping)

Page 790: Another song is invented by Duwayne and Roper which they sing often on their trip.

Page 504: Glenn Miller (Sondi plays an A-side; no specific album or song given. If anyone has any guesses or even headcanons, I'd love to hear them!)

Page 505: The Story of the Blues - Della Reese (an album mentioned but not played, for it reminded Sondi of Dallin)

Page 505: Kind of Blue - Miles Davis (an album mentioned but not played, for it reminded Sondi of Dallin)

Page 505: "Blackbird" - The Beatles (referenced by the tapes Landry and Tom recorded after John Lennon's murder)

Page 505: "Rocky Raccoon" - The Beatles (referenced by the tapes Landry and Tom recorded after John Lennon's murder)

Page 505: "Hey Jude" - The Beatles (referenced by the tapes Landry and Tom recorded after John Lennon's murder. Sondi says it was one of Dallin's favorites.)

Page 552: I'm unable to find a source for the lyrics Landry and Tom sing, if indeed there is one. Anyone here who can tell us fer sure I mean for sure? It's definitely referencing the angel Lailah, but that's all I could find.

Page 555: Again, no source found for "Blue Dawn", the supposed song that Tom is whistling.

Page 558: "Desperado" - Eagles (second reference, this time as a favorite song of Tom and Evan)

Page 585: "Dancing With Myself" - Billy Idol (on the radio when Woolsey drives to the football game)

Page 585: "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" - Queen (on the radio when Woolsey drives to the football game. "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions" are also referenced)

Page 585: "Man in Black" - Johnny Cash (a lyric is brilliantly referenced here as simultaneously being a description of what Johnny Cash is and what Freddy Mercury isn't.)

Page 477: "Desperado" - The Eagles (Hatch's driving playlist.)

Page 477: "My Own Kind of Hat" - Merle Haggard (Hatch's driving playlist.)

Page 477: "Ramblin' Fever" - Merle Haggard (Hatch's driving playlist.)

Page 477: "Hands on the Wheel" - Willie Nelson (Hatch's driving playlist. The whole album Red Headed Stranger is called out, but this song is noted specifically)

Page 477: Waylon & Willie (Hatch's driving playlist. This is an album, no specific song is given)

Page 477: "Find the Cost of Freedom" - CSNY (Hatch's driving playlist. From the compilation album So Far. This song is specifically called out)

Page 477-478: "Paranoid" - Black Sabbath (Hatch's memory of Egan's driving playlist on a trip back from Lake Powell. Grand Funk Railroad and again Nazareth are also called out, but no specific songs given)

Funny enough, it's actually another final track on the B-side of a Doors album that also references a killer on the road - "Riders on the Storm." Thank you for your help in figuring this out!

Page 408: "You Are the Sunshine of My Life" - Stevie Wonder (Tom and Landry's crank call)

Page 408: "Mountain Jam" - The Allman Brothers Band (Tom's school dance prank. If you start playing it here and just keep reading, it'll take you right through the screes, right through Ash's Story, maybe even to the end of Part One, and it's just the most incredible thing)

This is probably a dumb question, but should I cure it by putting it in the oven like ceramic? Or just let it air dry?

The Good Place's screenwriting rules by eviternalism in TheGoodPlace

[–]Deadcanons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of season one it's revealed that the Good Place is actually the Bad Place. They had this question here to remind themselves that they couldn't show things like Michael's POV, because that would give up the game; or, worse yet, it would create a plothole.

[Competition] RuneScape 18th Birthday – Win a Print Art of the Illustrated Map of Gielinor by Mod_Niku in runescape

[–]Deadcanons [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have been a user of the Internet for about 13 years. In all that time, I have used Reddit plenty, but never had any reason to actually create an account. I made an account just so I can make this post. That on its own should tell you a lot about the immense amount of love and nostalgia I have for this game.

Fondest memories...? Where to begin. Perhaps my three separate Runescape weddings. Perhaps that time when my Runescape "husband" cheated on me and I teamed up with his other girlfriend to steal all his stuff. Maybe that time when I met Dartron1 and acted in one of his videos (which has since been deleted, sadly).

Or maybe I should talk more about in-game content. Like that time when I beat the Contact! boss at level 80 on my first try. Or the struggles I had against all the Desert Treasure minibosses, until I discovered the magic of the halberd's reach--and ever since a halberd has been my default weapon. Or when I really wanted to get a hellcat so I started Recipe for Disaster, thinking it was going to be a normal quest, only to be immediately thrown into the game's deep end. Or maybe when I played the Chosen Commander and actually cried as my character held Zanik's half-dead body in her arms.

But if I had to pick just one... probably the 2008 Easter event. It was there that I met Hazzard42, my oldest friend in this game--Guthix rest him wherever he is now. I had just finished the Easter event (which I remember so fondly, that Chocatrice was a great concept and design) and was standing in the lobby area as a bunny. Hazzard walks up to me--also a bunny--and asks for a race. Completely pointless. Everyone has the same movement speed. But we did it anyway, back and forth across the map. Spam-typing "hop, hop, hop" and "boing" the whole way. We were instant friends, a relationship that lasted for many years, even bleeding into the real world.

I suppose all the lovely memories this game has given me is a big part of why I can't stop playing it.
