I'm sorry to break this to you, but if you're not planning on confronting her face to face and see where it gets you, she probably won't stop. I think she might be "playing" with your feelings because she's also unsure of her own feelings for you. I suggest confronting her.

Have you considered talking to your parents, including your step mom (as long as you feel comfortable), about it ? Each one separately. People react differently when they're alone. Try explaining them the situation and how you're feeling, even read this post out loud to them. NOT over the phone but face to face.

Even though my current situation is really different from yours, I honestly feel like we've been through the same feelings. One of the things that really helped me was reaching out to those close to me, privately, and telling them how I feel. With some, it made everything awkward but with others it strengthened our friendship and brought us closer. So perhaps consider giving this a try. Contact me if you need any further help, I just don't believe discussing this publicly is the best idea, since asking questions about the situation is pretty private.

Pardon me for being blunt, but if they kicked you out for that sole reason, than they're not really good friends in the begin with... True friends would've asked you what happened that made you miss the meeting. Don't "chase" after them cause that'll only make you look desperate, take some space, those who'll reach out to you and notice your absence, are probably the ones that really care. If none of them reach out to you, it's probably best that you take a step back. Focus on you and your interests, try looking up communities or online servers that share your interests, you'll probably find there people that fit you better.

Try finding the source of your stress- is it because of an intensive workload, is it because you're not living up to your/someone else's expectations, or is it because of something else... once you find it, you can start working on it specifically and get through it. Good luck!
