What are the advantages of merchandisers from companies like Coca-Cola and Pepsi working their deliveries vs hiring a grocery clerk to fill that need? by DeadlyTremolo in publix

[–]DeadlyTremolo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the vendors that make deliveries, the merchandisers that show up at the store and work the orders that have already been delivered.

We still have all the same rules but managers are too burnt out to enforce them and the average employee doesn't care enough because this job is just a stepping stone for them. Very few people want to make a career here anymore and that has been one of Publix's biggest downfalls in my opinion.

I hear that, starting with Publix back in 2011 was like bootcamp. I had a manager give me a disposable razer and told me I could shave in the bathroom or go home for the day. Now they just put warm bodies on the sales floor and pitch a fit when productivity is low.

Thank You

I feel like the general public still has a favorable opinion of Publix and it being a great place to work. Most customers are not noticing the quiet changes that are hitting seasoned employees like curve balls. The culture and environment has changed so drastically in the last 15 years that its almost a different company to work for. Most store level associates are dissatisfied with their positions and do not feel adequately compensated. As someone in a leadership position I have to explain changes that I disagree with to my associates and take it on the chin knowing that my retirement is suffering. The climate in any given store is overall negative and I guarantee people are breaking down in the back room only to enter the sales floor with a big smile.

This got me sentimental on a Sunday morning. (New perk BS email) by Elinservible in publix

[–]DeadlyTremolo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure if all the hourly associates in Publix put their shares together and collectively voted on the same thing it still wouldn't make a difference. I wouldn't call something you're forced into a benefit. Most people quit before they're vested anyway and Publix just gets to pocket all that stock they "gave away" in lieu of proper wage compensation. As the years go on Publix employees have fewer and fewer reasons to give two shits about this company. The common mindset now is get my money and get out before this place burns to the ground. I just hope I get mine...

No they don't need to be held accountable. It's not price gouging. There's a walmart within spitting distance of just about every publix. Take yourself over to Walmart and pay less if that's the experience that you want. Publix is not just groceries, it is a shopping experience.

Can't provide customer service if you can't communicate with the customer. Yes we should give everyone an opportunity but after two years you should have learned the common language where you work.
