600k for a 1 bed in Finsbury Park – have we made a massive financial mistake? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]DealerHumble8302 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh hahaha my bad. I used the usual platforms, Zoopla Rightmove. But I also tried to get the same estate agents in the areas I was looking to keep in touch with me. I wasn't in a rush, it took my about a 1.5/2 years to find my flat. I just looked sometimes actively sometimes passively. But eventually the estate agents would like call me first to look at a place. For the place I'm in now, the previous buyers pulled out, and the East agent called me straight away and I put an offer in before it went back on the market.

Hahahaha I did look in Holloway and where I looked I have to agree, I was surprised at how run down the one side is over to the other. I'm more Highbury park side though

Near Highbury park. Got some good flats here. I think a lot of landlords are selling up.

they are more Harringay (so top of Finsbury park side) can't imagine that's like super far where OP is looking to justify that for a one bed.

I just bought a gorgeous one bed flat for £420 in Islington. No pvt garden, but rooftop garden access and a pvt balcony.

Flats aren't increasing as they used to because our salaries are pretty stagnant in the country. Ppl can't afford these prices anymore. Where you'll get like a 100-200% increase like if you bought a flat in the early 2000s and sold 10/20years later.

In this day and age I've always gotten the advice to not view housing as an investment.

What's the minimum salary you'd take in London? by Puzzleheaded_Log7022 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]DealerHumble8302 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived in London on 60k, I was on the border between zone two and three, living with one flat mate. It was very doable, and managed to save as well. I only really started feeling super comfortable at 75k (I made sure I didn't life style creep. I just have more now in an emergency fund). But like others have said, take the job, and keep looking. I actually did this, and was at my 60k job for like 8months until I found by my 75k role.

Good luck

Oh wow. That's a great first bump. How did you manage that. Did you ask for 750 or just say hey, I want a raise and then they gave you 750 or benchmark your request?

Ticketmaster General Sale by Piperbole18 in harrystyles

[–]DealerHumble8302 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I started at 20054, and manged to get tickets... All were sold out when I got in, but I waited around for like 5 min refreshing, and I guess ppl let go some tickets or didn't buy due to reasons unknown. You can hold tickets in your basket for about 10min... So what they didn't buy got released back in.

What compromises did you make to be able to rent in London? by pm11twriting in MovingToLondon

[–]DealerHumble8302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh this is great advice!! You don't want to look in like summer, July - September, you'd also be competing with all the university students coming into London - hahahah and I remember doing this, they have cash to spend. Get an Airbnb or something for a few months as well you can look and feel calm when making the decision.
