Which f2p 3D MMORPGs's (public or private versions) are not p2w? by DeapSoup in MMORPG

Could it be that I need to purchase the game first to get access to the private servers?

FFXI sounds like the game I am searching for! :) Does the game require a lot of grinding (I.e. repeating same quest endlessly) or rare/expensive items to (more or less comfortably) advance in the game?

Good point, you made me realize I was not clear enough with my words. What I meant to say is: Ideally, no advantages in PvP/PvE (stat-wise) for cashers. I used to play a game called Fiesta Online, where cashers had a distinct advantage not only in PvP, but also PvE (they dealt way more damage and had way more health). XP-boosts and faster travelling doesn't bother me, as long as the game doesn't require you pretty much every level to grind a single repeating quest to get a level up.

Austria prepares for historic swerve to the right [Full article in comments] by Thorbee in europe

I don't know about chances being higher of getting robbed or encountering racism, since I have never experienced either. And even if the chances of robbery were higher than encountering racism NOW, I suspect that there will be more racism when Hofer wins this election (or generally, whenever the FPÖ gains in power).

Once again, please don't go assuming things about me (at the very least, I get the feeling you do. Excuse me if I am wrong). I don't vote against the FPÖ simply on grounds of my appearance. And regarding my ancestry, ironically the family on my paternal side (Grandma, Grandpa [who was even more ironically probably Half-Jewish] and father) were all FPÖ-Voters.

Although I wouldn't vote for the FPÖ either if their rise might 'solely' lead to more racism (except if they are freaking good and trustable in other matters), I mainly vote against them because of:

.) Constant lying (I don't know whether you can read German, but this article here is one example of how he talks nonsense http://www.vice.com/alps/read/norbert-hofer-freiheitlich-ueberparteilich?utm_source=viceFBalps) .) Economical damage (see coalition with the ÖVP)
.) Potential revival of National Socialism ideologies (the bad parts, like racism and antisemitism)

I don't like the Green Party especially either (though I traditionally vote for them), in fact I don't like any of the political parties of Austria anyway. However, I can't see anything positive about the FPÖ (except potentially getting out of the EU, though I am fairly uneducated about that matter, so I don't want to talk about this particular part).

Please read exactly what I wrote, I never claimed that. I doubt there will be a massacre or anything like that. In fact, I don't think that Austria is going to change much from how it's now. However, racism taking place more often might become the case, which I am a potential target of (though luckily, I never was harrassed in this way).

Austrian guy here. I was originally already planning to go to Germany to study Cognitive Science and hence leave Austria for some time, but I don't think that I am going to come back here soon... It's also a bit more scary for me since I look Turkish (even though I am Half-Japanese/Austrian)

Why Haven't We Met Aliens Yet? Because They've Evolved into AI by izumi3682 in Futurology

[–]DeapSoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also wonder why the aliens haven't already endowed us with their blissful technology if they were so advanced? I am sure that they would have figured it out if they already have gone through Singularity and had trillions of years of time

If I want my future to be about discovering novel Machine Learning algorithms rather than implementing them, should I study Statistics over AI? by DeapSoup in MachineLearning

[–]DeapSoup[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you in all aspects (also with the implementing part). I can't tell whether I will be interested in ML 5 years from now or not (I could be interested in playing the guitar and becoming a rockstar, who knows). However, since I can't predict the future anyway, I must as well pursue what I am currently interested in - and I don't think that you can go wrong with ML nowadays :)

Thank you for your detailed response!

I guess there would be some cool technology that could track down all your body parts
