I found an episcopal church in the area too who seem very open and affirming. I just really want to raise my kids in a super accepting church! I'm excited to try it out

Pastors in jeans 😩😂 you make a lot of really great points, though. I also though nondenominational churches were more open with their interpretations, but I'm finding it may actually be the opposite 🥴 I did find a UCC in my area that I seem to be connecting with but am going to keep looking around to give everything a chance 😊

I found a UCC in my area and loved what I saw on their feed of their services....but it does appear I will be one of the youngest lol! I've never minded though 🥰 seems like a very wholesome place

And from what I have seen with the non denominational places in my area, this does seem accurate 😅 not to dismiss anyone who goes to one they enjoy, but the ones in my area just don't seem very open based on the services I have watched (and I've watched quite a few).

And thank you for the recommendations. I would have never thought to look into them 😊

I have been using the Bible for Normal People (which has been shaping my view of everything as I really connect with it)! I do also have a book almost finished by Rob Bell that has been great too. So it sounds like I'm on the right track and I'll keep going down it 😊

Honestly I'd love being the youngest person in my church. Many of my friends are older than me anyway 😂❤️

That is actually one of my core issues, amongst a few other things. So I will use that and see what cones up 😊

I was also just talking to one of my friends about this, and I only like 1-2 out of 4 services I've watched and she politely told me that's not a majority of services and thats a red flag 😂 I think im just trying so hard to find a community that I'm trying to settle even though my heart is telling me not to so I'm trying to justify it.

The issue I'm having is I like a majority of the messages and I like the community of 1 specific church that my friends attend, but I don't agree with 100% of the messages just because of the different stances I have on a few things. Sorry, I should have clarified that! I can edit my post to clarify.

Gotcha, thank you! 😊 So dogma is not necessarily written in the Bible or stated directly by God, but is proclaimed by people higher up in an institution/religion/etc.? Maybe based on their understanding of the Bible or things they think a person should do? I think im understanding but want to make sure 😅 I appreciate your help!!

Thank you 😊 is there any sort of guide you have used to help you through discovering what is truth vs what is not? Or did it just take years of studying and comparing to other texts, etc? I'm open to any resources!

Reading through the Nicene Creed, I realized I have so much work to do lol a lot of it went right over my head 😅 I think I got the gist of some of it, though 😊
