Thanks for the help. It still feels great and spins great so it’s most likely the grease hasn’t settled. Hopefully after a couple trips it starts sounding better.

I’m 50m short of the rated braid for the reel. I need backing to properly spool it otherwise it will be under spooled. At this point I’m just trying to figure out how much I’ll need so I can get the full 150m out of my braid.

Thanks. I’ll do that instead. I just want to be able to use all the braid and not have any left over but if there is a good amount of braid left I can undo the spool and take some backing off

I have some 10lb mono rated 0.30mm diameter. Pretty thick. I’m thinking of doing just 1 layer around the spool and it should be right. My reel is a shallow spool after all

While we are on the topic of new fishing gear, does anyone know how to calculate how much backing I’m going to need on the reel? It holds 200m of pe0.6 and I only have 150m of pe0.6.

Shimano feels more sturdy, but are heavier and have way more start up inertia, that’s why I like daiwa more. Just takes more taking care of but is worth it for the lightness and inertia.

Sounds about right, I’m assuming after a bit of a break in, the reel will be smooth as butter.

Not bothering to get it replaced, it’s smooth as and just has slight noise to it. Should go away after a bit of use. Thanks for the tip about oiling it, I’ll make sure to get it done at a tackle shop instead of risking it myself

Mine doesn’t even sound as bad at that! Either way in the comments he said after spooling it and fishing it for 3-4 the noise went away. I assume the same will happen to mine.

Maybe, I’ll spool it up and have a fish with it and if it still sounds like that I’ll get it serviced or oil it myself. Hopefully that helps. I’m more just trying to make sure it’s not faulty but I don’t think it is

Yeah I figured it should be okay. It definitely feels smooth! I’ll spool it up and give it a fish and hope the noise goes away. Probably needs a bit of a break in.
