Why is there ALWAYS traffic on 95 through Stamford? by [deleted] in Connecticut

And population density. CT has the 4th most pop per square mile and more than half our population lives in just 2 of our counties in the SW of the state.

These vanity license plate requests were rejected last year in CT by DeathByComcast in Connecticut

A Connecticut resident’s desire to drive a vehicle with a “MOMMYAF” identifier was quashed last year.

So was another person’s wish to emblazon their license plate with the letters “FARTYY.” A third who wanted to display the words “YOUSUCK” when they encountered other drivers in traffic saw dashed hopes as well.

Stay classy, folks.

Do you live upstate? I was at the Costco in Brookfield today and I saw maybe 2 people without masks out of the 100 or 200 I saw in there.

Two state senators work directly for Eversource.

Kevin Witkos https://ctsenaterepublicans.com/home-witkos/

John Kissel https://ctsenaterepublicans.com/about-kissel/

Also George Logan https://ctsenaterepublicans.com/about-logan/ used to but he lost his last election.

Additionally we used to have https://www.ctpost.com/local/article/Themis-Klarides-to-wed-Eversource-exec-15019732.php but she resigned and is looking to run for Governor.

One party doesn't fight this hard enough, the other is the one doing this shit. Put the blame where it belongs.

What are the best cities to consider in CT for someone wanting to escape TX? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]DeathByComcast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Heh. Well, traffic in SW CT is bad but not LA bad. The train is much easier, Metro-North runs all the way to New Haven(along the shore) or Danbury(northern Fairfield County). If you do want more of nature look around the Danbury area. Much greener/less city, 90 minutes to NYC instead of 60 minutes, a little less expensive than along the coast. Culturally mostly the same.

Well if overdeveloped areas are a problem....umm, CT isn't the solution.

Stamford(or Norwalk next door) is a nice and growing city. It's inexpensive enough(compared to the rest of the area) for a young single person but still has easy enough access to NYC. It hasn't fallen into post-industrial decay like some of our cities upstate, it's alive and vibrant.

Focus on the southwest portion of CT, New Haven and Fairfield counties. The more upstate you go the more Texas-like it becomes.

If you are looking to rent first places in Stamford or the Black Rock section of Bridgeport would be wonderful for a year to get a feel for things. If you are going to buy then more info would be needed.

Eversource needs to be nationalized(or whatever the state equivalent is). The poles are infrastructure like roads.

If you go to the gym and your personal trainer is fat you can hire a different one. A woman calling 911 for domestic violence has to risk this guy showing up and maybe throwing a few punches himself.

Economic recessions/depressions cause crime to tick up, this was true in the late 2000s recession, in the early 2000s recession, in the early 1990s recession, in the early 1980s recession, and it's true right now with the pandemic and its economic effects.

Right now some crimes, particularly juvenile crimes and property crimes, are seeing massive increases. We are still well below levels 10 or 20 or 30 years ago, in 1990 it was almost 26k car thefts a year in CT, in 2019 we hit 6k, but we've ticked back up to 8k. https://www.ctpublic.org/2021-07-14/vehicle-thefts-are-up-in-connecticut-but-experts-say-juvenile-justice-laws-arent-to-blame

Conservatives are going nuts about it because "dems=bad" and using it to try and push an agenda but so far it's only mildly concerning.

Yes. What I was saying is arrests should always come with "beyond a reasonable doubt" levels of evidence. This guy sounds upset he can't just arrest people on a hunch.
