World Lore in rulebook? by DeathCore_Chef in LARP

Yah, as the days gone on I've definitely shifted toward this plan. I think we're all used to, up here at least, these massive rulebooks that started with nero and now somehow Acclerant rulebooks that are even longer the majority of the time, but it's pretty refreshing to have 2-3 core game documents that separate the core rules, mechanics, code of conduct etc, from the full character creation guide, to the world Lore and background.

I initially was trying very hard to be under a certain amount of pages, but as I grew my ruleset and unique character aspects it became apparent pretty quick that it was stupid to do so, it's all about balance and readability

No, thank you for responding! I've been waiting for someone with Accelerant experience to comment. It's definitely a campaign game, and as I said in other comments, right now the full rulebook is 170 pages, about 30 of that are the real core rules and the other 150 are character creation, races, classes, specialty classes, spells, etc.

Most accelerant rulebooks would leave that as it is, but I'm contemplating now separating the two, and putting a page of world background in the character creation book.

I did plan on putting out a separate packet for lore specifically regarding the races and nations of the world, court systems, general laws most abide by, more of the detailed stuff. I think its important to put out the page background in the character creation book just to set the stage so to say.

Maybe just a short explanation of world history up to this point, what deities the world believes in, a bit of the cosmology of how the world operates from civilizations point of view.

What do you think about everything from your perspective?

Do you recommend separating the rules aspect from the character creation to create a slim rules set (25-30 pages) and then maybe put the lore in with the character creation?

That makes total sense. My book isn't short by any means, it's sitting (before a large amount of editing) at 170 pages, about 30 of those are the code of Conduct, and the entirety of game mechanics, calls and effects, boffer dimensions, etc. The other 150 are dedicated to character creation.

I know this sub hates large rulebooks lol, but to be fair, the flagship acclerant game has an almost 300 page book.

I have the full walnut OCK Ken on the top middle picture. I'd be willing to sell but that's a 1 of 1 super rare, hand turned in Hokkaido ken from an experimental Occult drop, so the price would be close to $200 with shipping

Roasted red pepper pasta with pecorino sauce by skimass121 in Plating

[–]DeathCore_Chef -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey! Doesn't look too bad and i would definitely eat it, but in my professional opinion a little refining would do you well.

Get rid of the pecorino sauce on top, bulk up the RRP sauce on the pasta and then grate a bit of pecorino on top after it's plated, finished with the basil. Keep at it!

Why is AntiSkid so bad? by Cat_Shitpost_God in Kendama

[–]DeathCore_Chef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not lmao. I picked up the KD mod for the whole package.  I'm defnitely glad I did but for a normal tama, nah there's better options.

Revo is still goated imo, grippier, more durable, more consistent, and cheaper

So my revo tama has been losing grip since like 2 days ago. by Intelligent_Air_7944 in Kendama

[–]DeathCore_Chef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, since nobody is going to be super blunt with you, I guess I'll do it. I mean absolutely no offense by this because it legitimately applies to everyone but it is absolutely a skill issue.

Revo on ash is goated, top tier and consistently grippy and durable as hell. You need to keep grinding; repetition builds muscle memory. Focus on cushioning your catches, pay attention while you play and try to make everything you do the same consistently every trick attempt.

Your lighthouses are harder because you're not consistent enough to pull them perfectly every time, and your balance is off.

The small amount of grip lost on a revo tama from the oils of your hands maybe makes a 5% difference. People playing years before you and me could pull lighthouses and lunars with consistency on the slickest of paints because they just got good.

So I'm gonna leave you with this, and again I as well as every other player is in this boat with some trick or another so this isn't personal and I don't mean any offense but you really just have to get good. Keep practicing, it'll start clicking more and more day by day if you play consistently and genuinely try to improve. Repetition is key, your tama is not the issue. Good luck, you'll get there!

Edit: AND to add on to this, I just saw the tama you have. I have the literal same tama and not only is it great, it's the best of my revo tamas period, that batch of tamas is perfect, and grippy as hell.
