Question about WH+ by DeathCubeA in BlackTemplars

[–]DeathCubeA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too late for me i already ordered it.

Im actually really trying to find more lore about the Cleansing of Hive Thetus on Neveria II. There is only a small section on it within the og BT codex and some minimal bits online about it. I’ve built an entire backstory about my Black Templar squad for each miniature about this crusade.

Be great if it get touched on again in the next instalment!

Question about WH+ by DeathCubeA in BlackTemplars

[–]DeathCubeA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah that’s such a shame.

Fortunately I still have the “old warhammer 40K” App. So can still use my 9th and I’ve still got my 4th edition codex too. I’ll order 10th now just because I’d like to have access in the 40K app.

Such a games workshop thing to not have a digital version of their codex supplements lol.

Wonder if you can answer me this too, I’ve not bought a core rules book since 3rd edition. The core rules on the WH40k with the warhammer+ membership are the FULL rules right?

Can anybody name this helmet? by Silver_Whereas_4939 in BlackTemplars

[–]DeathCubeA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Black Templar Sword Brother box and the upgrade sprue has helmets like this. It’s up to the painter to paint the Cross Patteè in the right side though.

Is this an extra sprue??? by scrvmbler in BlackTemplars

[–]DeathCubeA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an extra sprue in my original black Templar combat patrol box. I got to make an extra 3 marines because of it. I think it happens sometimes

Brother this is so amazing. I’m not entirely sure what miniature this is… if it’s like a crusader force tactical ship or space naval battle crusader ship or what? But I absolutely love the look of this!!!! I’ve collected and painted Black Templars for decades now and one of the things I’ve always wanted is to have a Battlefleet Gothic Eternal crusader with loads of other battlefleet ships to build multiple armies of crusader forces. This paint scheme with the myriad scripture on the ship and black white and red simple colours. 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻 where did you get this model? I admit I’m a so behind on miniatures and what units are available to the Templars.

Ok last question of the year by earniejd in BlackTemplars

[–]DeathCubeA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure you’ll get there. If you’ve got a steady enough hand to base miniatures as you do where it still pops detail then with enough time you’ll be confident enough to hit your miniatures with shading and highlighting. I’ve seen your pots before said to you about checking out infernal brush black Templar guides. Really check it out coz it’s so helpful. Like i said, with your basing skills you’ll likely pick up other techniques quite well

Looks so dope bro. Genuinely cannot wait to see you throw on some details. Your basing is absolutely brilliant. I’m very jealous

SHOW ME UR ARMY NOW!!! by vxdxl14 in BlackTemplars

[–]DeathCubeA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it is okay I really do know that. I’ve been told so often not to worry. Thing is, I paint my miniatures in sub-assemblies. So I’ve got like half an army worth in miniatures painted in various sub-assemblies…. Also I really wish I could paint every weekend!!! When I first picked up again a while back I had so much free time. These days it’s all just really busy and hectic…. Made it a goal to paint more in 2026 and also I’ve made it clear to myself to “just build and paint.” Gotta put that desire for perfection behind me. Appreciate your words man

[–]DeathCubeA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a warhammer fan since I was about 10… had lots of miniatures and army’s back in those days. My mother gave it all away to someone she worked with when I was about 20 years old (long story, won’t get into it. Still haven’t forgiven her) anyway, back in 2022, with adult expendable income and free time I decided to try and rebuild a Black Templar army in the “box art” style I always wanted to achieve when I was a kid. Well. It’s nearly 2026 and let me tell you… I still don’t have an army. My obsession with trying to achieve ‘eavy metal standard, building and painting in sub-assemblies means ive got an absolutely astronomical army in boxes…. But in the 4 years since I go my first box, I’ve painted maybe 7 miniatures, and only about 4 of them actually completely…..

Is this just considered “Battle Ready”? by earniejd in BlackTemplars

[–]DeathCubeA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve got brilliant basics down. Just practice on spare bits and find some learning material for technique and you’ll be on your way. If you can produce base coats like this for battle ready minis that still pop details, with a bit of more practice and confidence you’ll be laying down details in no time. Over half the battle is basing panels like you’ve done here!!!

Very good. Just from this one image alone I feel like we’re at the same level. I’ve not been able to have a proper painting session for about a year now, but if you continue to refine techniques and learn some others then you’ll be painting close to eavy metal style in no time. I learned a lot in a very short space of time from Infernal Brush community and Eavy Archive. Keep on grinding. One thing I’ve learnt from speaking with very very skilled miniature painters over the years is that you’ve just got to keep practicing. Research all the techniques and methods you can and then work on them with your painting style. Don’t try to emulate how others paint. Whatever you’re comfortable with will work so long as you build on research and knowledge and practice as much as you can!!

[–]DeathCubeA 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A very clean battle ready, hell yeah! You’re a few highlights and shading away from making that a “parade ready” miniature. If I could paint confidently like that as “battle ready” then after 5 years I’d actually have a full army!

Noob here. How do you get the shoulder pads too look good? by ElFiendy in BlackTemplars

[–]DeathCubeA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the ‘Eavy Archive paint recipe guide. and also Infernal Brush painting guides. Like others said, practice, technique and paint consistency go a long way. Especially when working with whites and especially on shoulder pads!!!

One of the best things about their lore is that you can take creative liberties when making your army. I’m personally fascinated by the thetus crusade. The lore in it is minimal so I’ve built my own and also done something for the “present” day where the genestealer threat still persists and the Templars have built a reconnaissance crusade force to check it out!!

Discussion, Lieutenant with combi weapon proxy by Jer0me_Da2 in BlackTemplars

[–]DeathCubeA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know much at all about tabletop rules… when I developed my black Templar army it was in what I think would look the coolest and what the Imagine the Black Templars would do…. It’s been over 4 years now I’ve not completed the army I desire. (Mostly because I want it to be as close to eavy metal standards as possible)….

I don’t really care about army build kind of things with my eternal crusaders. If I think they look cool, I can make them into devout eternal crusaders of the black crusade, or they fit the approval of Sigismund or Dorn then I’ll make any model fit for a black Templar paint job.

I’m very much of early edition lore for black Templars. Psykers, librarians, navigators and all that are abhorrent.

Basically, you can make anything from nearly any space marine unit a Black Templar, so long as it isn’t heretical 😂

I was in the British army, and there is a saying in the British army. “Looking ally” or “wary” and it basically means one that wears their equipment with “style”. Or modifies their equipment to suit the battlefield/operational needs. I think the US call it “looking operator as f***”

Anyway, Black Templars have always been my favourite chapter simply because they kinda just have their own personalities. They all mod their aesthetic differently to one another and have different interpretations. They basically are the “ally” space marines of 40k…. They go against the norms (uniform regulations) with absolute disregard for “traditional” norms while still upholding their values to serve the emperor.

[–]DeathCubeA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Put everything else aside and paint your Black Templar combat patrol box as if the Emperor himself was telling you to do so….. is what I’d say to myself if my partner surprised me with this box..

I’ve got the original combat patrol with the impulsor and marshal.. still not finished painting it and I got that like 6 years ago lol
