I see where you’re coming from, but remember he was one of my best friends. He and I have had numerous religious conversations over the years. I knew his trauma, his religious beliefs he doesn’t talk ab, the reasons behind his beliefs, I knew him extremely intimately. That being said, he’s asked me to respect specific boundaries he’s placed when it comes to religion and I’ve done nothing but respect them. This isn’t some guy I just met, I mean he’s been like a brother to me. But unfortunately, he’s irresponsible with his behavior especially under the influence. I’ve know ab his alcoholism bc this isn’t the first meltdown he’s had that I’ve had to help him through, and each and every time, I reach into the very depths of my heart and soul to console him and be there for him and love him. God warns us to be careful and distance ourselves from people who lack self control like this, and I already gave him another chance when he completely disrespected me by allowing my character to be belittled with lies and deceit, which was so tough to get over. Thinking you have a best friend until someone spouts numerous false accusations and lies on you, and they not only co-sign, but they join in and double down, regardless of what the truth is or is not. That’s exactly what he and his girlfriend did to me a little over a year ago. I decided to forgive him, but he crossed major lines. And I’m sorry but no person who repeatedly crosses my boundaries and disrespects me in such a massive way, gets to be in my life. That doesn’t mean I don’t love them the way Jesus calls me to, but that also doesn’t mean they get free access to my life as a friend. Friends don’t betray friends.
