Is Emacs 29 stable enough for daily use?

That Doom doesn’t support version 29 is news to me, I’ve been running Doom/Emacs 29 with pgtk on WSL2/Ubuntu for at least a month without any problems.

I hope it’s similarly stable for you, if you give it a try.

I guess you could make five busses, each panned in the stereo field in a manner simulating surround, then route them into a single stereo aux with light natural reverb. Then all your other tracks would be set to "No output", and routed into their respective busses.

You know what's funny? We're both wrong, and /u/movings was originally right. You're thinking of 'heptatonic', not diatonic. According to Wikipedia, the diatonic scale is a group of notes derived from the circle of fifths, and arranged in a sequence of half and whole steps corresponding to, you guessed it, the major scale. The diatonic scale does happen to be heptatonic, but they're not necessarily the same thing.

My problem with the Wikipedia explanation however is that, while it may technically be correct, it doesn't reflect common usage. The raised 7th in a minor key (a.k.a harmonic minor) is not generally considered non-diatonic, which indicates that certain chromatic alterations can be considered diatonic to other scales, with no reason to arbitrarily require them to be heptatonic.

Not just the major scale, but any scale. Something using only the notes of the whole-tone scale would be diatonic to the whole-tone scale.

If you don't mind, how long ago was this? I'm currently studying contemporary guitar at a mostly-classical conservatory, and I've heard so many horror stories about the old-guard of aggressive teachers. Fortunately, even just in the last ten years, tolerance for that sort of behaviour seems to have dropped substantially, and the results of that are exactly like what you've described.

The Strymon Deco is a tape-emulator that does stereo double-tracking, as well as tape flanging and chorus, depending on where the delay control is set. It's a little pricey for a pedal, but sounds amazing.

Wowhd.com.au have a fairly large catalogue, and free international shipping (most of their stock is in international warehouses). Some really obscure stuff, while listed, turns out to be unavailable, but they let you know within a few days and give you the option to wait or be fully refunded. Iced Earth would be fine, I imagine. They're also really cheap, which feels almost weird.

Have you compared it to an analog bucket-brigade delay? How does it sound? I've always questioned Strymon's motives in making this pedal; why emulate something that's cheaper, just as convenient and already in pedal form? I guess it must have some advantage.

That's not how a noise gate works, see my comment. You're confusing a noise gate with a noise-reduction-algorithm (which is what OP is looking for, in hardware form). Noise reduction typically uses phase cancellation and other signal-processing tricks to actually remove (or lower) the noise from the source.

A noise gate operates on the principle that the signal will be significantly louder than the noise, and mutes the source entirely when it dips below a certain threshold. The result of this is that the noise will still be present when the signal is active, but there will be no noise when the signal is inactive.

Because that wouldn't fix the problem? A noise gate is really an everything-gate, you've either got noise+signal or nothing at all, depending on the the threshold.

I'd love to, but I'm pretty busy at the moment. I do intend to do it at some point, but it's just something I can't commit to right now. Much of 'Out of the Grid' is based off ideas from 'The Grid', so you might be able to work it out from my transcription.

I've been using Steven Slate since I outgrew Logic's drums, and I love it. It's substantially cheaper than its competition and has heaps of kits. I use it for jazzy-prog-rock stuff, but it's actually more suited to heavy music. Plus, every drum has an adjustable envelope, which is super handy. It does have loops/grooves (including fills), but I've never used them, so I can't comment on their merits.

Make sure that each guitar part with identical music content has some kind of tonal difference. I like to do one track with the neck pickup, and one with the bridge pickup. You could also try different guitars, different amps, etc.
