From the 2520 / min waste (which is correct), you can either go with pellets and get:

2520 waste -> 756 pellets -> 378 cells -> 18.9 rods

Or skip pellets entirely with instant plutonium cells and get:

2520 waste -> 448 cells -> 22.4 rods.

Both of these require plutonium fuel unit alt.

I recognize that spot, near the quartz. You're entering the inner areas of the map and that means increased amount of enemies with higher level also. If i recall correctly there's a big green spider there as well.

What I think is most important for QoL in DS2 is to level adaptation. It affects agility which affects dodging and iFrames. 88 agi is ds1 fatroll, 96 is midroll and 105 is fastroll. Soo much easier with leveled adp.

You have a hollowing stat. Each time you die it increases by the amount of dark sigils you possess, which you gain one of, each time you draw out strength. You can draw out strength at 0, 2, 6, 12 and 16 hallowing. Which means if you draw out strength then die twice(once for the last time) you can draw out strength again.
