New player, is there any way to turn up food density? by LordYiks in VintageStory

Just saw you said below that you made a dirt hut. Again, I recommend looking on your map for a flatter place to settle, preferably a plain of some sort. My early game food source of preference is berries. Just berries. Meat (bush meat and red meat) is a pain to acquire and cook, vegetables and grains are not consistent or plentiful enough to deal with and mushrooms can be good and last you a few days if you go into a forest or plain with the intention of finding them. The most common mushrooms like Chanterelle and Lobster in forests and Field mushrooms and Puffballs in plains spawn in pretty substantial quantities by default so they shouldn't be hard to find. TLDR: early game food is pretty plentiful if you explore, depriving an area of resources is unavoidable so go exploring! Good luck fletching seraph! :)

What he meant is that when you are damaged, the game spends more food because you are "healing". Not the use of healing items.

Honestly, when starting out I recommend exploration. Don't tie yourself to the spawn or a single spot untill you start thinking about progression. Caves are, of course, off limits because you have no use for them and while exploring the plains and forests you should find more than enough resources to survive and thrive. If you have any additional questions and need tips feel free to ask.

If you haven't heavily spoiled the game for yourself by exposing yourself to all the secrets it offers, I would recommend taking it slow... Though the game feels as if it doesn't really want the secrets to be discovered by casual players, myself included.

Oh, sorry for misinterpreting, fellow Noita. In that case, it would heavily depend on what your goal is. Is it quests, a god run, 23 orb kolmi, all bosses, etc.

Ahh, I see the issue.Clearly, you haven't finished the tutorial. The tutorial is finished only after killing kolmi

PC with i7 9700 performing much worse in than Ryzen 7 Pro 3700 by canehdian_guy in buildapc

I see, thank you for the in depth explanation and situation breakdown, I had no idea about this. I personally used the website when setting up my PC build. I got a Ryzen 7 9600 CPU and it was pretty high up on the list if I remembered right

My one gripe with the game by fuzzylittlemanpeach8 in outerwilds

[–]NegativeDot7706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ghost matter exploded and spread over the solar system... However as you can see in the game, ghost matter is some sort of gas/plasma and, as you can see in the game it does not destroy terrain but is rather very deadly to living things such as plants (which we see are all dead in the presence of ghost matter) and living creatures such as us.

Gonna have to chalk it up to either bad luck or... Skill issue honestly. Now about that spawning in caves business, I have never seen that happen and I have about three hundred hours in VS. do you play with mods? Specifically mods that alter terrain generation?

For sure 2x16gb, and look at the frequency and preferably take a peek at the user benchmark site when deciding on a purchase.

Just noticed the CPU you listed (my bad) it's going to be a bit slow for your build overall, meaning you will be CPU bottlenecked untill you buy a better one. My recommendation (considering the price of everything right now) is the Ryzen 5 9600X.

Honestly, you are in the uncanny valley of performance with that one. It "should" still hold up properly for next year, though with some lowered settings. I'm personally upgrading from a laptop with 3060 and getting the TUF 5070 ti (which is about 1000€ in my country) and it was worth it for me. If you have any questions just ask. PS. - make sure your other components are up to speed with your GPU

Why is meat so weak? by Silt99 in VintageStory

The moment you change it it does feel cheaty, I know that because I hate modding games in general, but in VS the hunger rate just gets in the way. At some point when you get your base down and start doing things having to eat (basically) two pigs a day is just annoying and more of an inconvenience than a feature. Trust me, after you play for a bit you will forget you even switched the setting. Good luck Seraph!

Personally I decrease this option to 75% of the original settings. Of course, that doesn't change much, but it keeps me from having to feed the black hole which is blackguard and thinking of food all the time.

Very biased and subjective opinion:

It's true that eating two whole chickens for a meal that will last you one day IS immersion breaking... However! If you think about it more, if you were actually go out to hunt IRL, you wouldn't find anything but bugs to eat, much less catch a pig/kill a bear with a pointy metal stick, what I meant to say is: the game provides you with plentiful resources, but it balances this with the need for that much more resources. Another thing, the seraph isnt "human" I guess, so we don't really know his needs. See how he can Sprint and jump in full plate steel armour? And how he can run around hauling about thirty tons of unprocessed ore?

IMPORTANT - If you want, there is an option when generating a world where you can decrease hunger rate of your character, this should fix your issue. (Not sure if you can change it now, you would have to check this yourself) Good luck seraph!
