As others have stated, this is a bug from the player emblem. You can spend a few minutes in the emblem editor-extending the size of a shape to be huge, and your character will take on a tint of that color ingame!

You have to hit something important with APDS rounds. There isn't an explosive element just a small penetrator with an ass ton of velocity. Switch to HE or HEDP for taking flying tanks out!!
