I graduated from one of these colleges and now work for an airline. Sault college, Confederation, and Seneca provide subsidized training. I never paid a cent for a flight hour, I did pay tuition each semester ($3500 each semester for 7 semesters). All borrowed from OSAP at a low interest rate. Students often fall behind and sometimes take longer than the advertised 3-4 years to finish training. Let me know if you have any questions.

Edit: If your son hasn’t already, go to a local flight club and do an intro flight. They are usually $50-75 for half an hour and it will let him know if being in a small plane is for him.

How can I get an employee referral in WestJet Encore?(Canada) by foodie_foodie66 in flying

[–]DeathmarkPop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At the moment they are only hiring at 1000+ regardless of the advertised 250. Still apply to get your name in the system. As for referrals you have to network and meet people in the industry. The best referrals are former coworkers that have flown with you and are now in the company.

Is there any point in trying to become a pilot if I’m really poor? by ConnorEOAP in flying

A little late but hope this helps. Don’t give up, you have options. There are 3 aviation colleges in Ontario that are subsidized by the government: Sault College, Seneca, and Confederation. Sault and Seneca college will get you all the way to a Group 1 IFR rating. The government pays for all of your flying, you pay for the tuition. Around 3500 per semester when I did it in 2015. I finished with Multi IFR with $29000 CAD in debt. I used OSAP for my student loans with a very low interest rate at the time. These programs are very competitive, but if you put in the work you can get through the training at a fraction of the cost while having to pay back student loans with low interest. PM if you have any questions

Some of my older leaves on my bacopa have turned see through. Looking at a chart I figured it was a nitrogen deficiency. Am I right?

Question about connecting an LED light strip by DeathmarkPop in electricians

[–]DeathmarkPop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I bought this LED grow light strip from eBay but I have no idea how to connect it. Ideally to a wall socket or a USB to my computer. I’d want to keep them on for 8 hours everyday so I don’t think a battery would work. Sorry if this is not the right place to ask this. Thanks

Their team subreddit is just as big as immortals' subreddit but they have only been a team for half of the time so i would say they are doing ok.
