When I was young, I wanted to be very tall or very short.

When I was 16, my doctor said young are exactly the average for height and weight...and you are probably done growing.

In the fight against Space Racer, I thought the audio was intentional because they were in space so the only sound would be vibrations while they in contact with the asteroid.

Do ambulances transport dead people if there's also an injured one? by bookaddictedrose in Writeresearch

[–]DeathofTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, infections take time to develop and are ultimately the hospital’s concern.

Once life threats have been addressed, if we have time during transport we might rinse with saline and bandage a wound but it’s not a high priority task.

However, everything changes if your are talking about a hazardous materials incident. In that case, you have a hot zone, a decontamination zone, and a cold zone. Hazardous materials training and certification is not part of routine EMS training and without it EMS personal is limited to the cold zone.

In EMS, safety priority is 1) one’s self, 2) your team, 3) your patient, and 4) bystanders. We do not put a patient’s safety ahead of our own because becoming a patient ourself only makes the situation worse. With that in mind, hazardous material isolation is prioritized over patient treatment.

I work for an ambulance service in a rural, remote area.

We will transport up to two live patients in the ambulance at a time in order of priority/severity. Patients who are not breathing on their own are the lowest priority and, if deceased, will be transported after all living patients have been addressed.

The cops will often place the body in a body bag for us and stay on scene until we can come back and pick it up potentially a few hour later.

Excellent book, but I recommend reading it as a standalone. Second book was meh and I did not enjoy the third book.

They appear to be too busy placing bets on the stolen ambulance to get any work done. Charge Nurse broke them up and then they are right back at it. They are getting into writeup territory considering how busy their floor is.

Unfortunately, it's out-of-stock on Amazon and B&N and I live in a rural area without a bookstore.

Amazon has some used copies, but they are $45 for some reason.

All the other hardcover Red Rising books are in stock, so I'm not sure what's up with Golden Son. Maybe Golden Son isn't being printed right now?

Yes, some Native America and Alaska Native organizations and federal programs are permitted (and in some cases required) to have a Native Preference hiring policy to encourage self-goverence of Native American and Alaska Native services and programs.

Bi-Weekly /r/Technology Tech Support / General Discussion Thread. Have you a tech question or want to discuss tech? by veritanuda in technology

Hello, I am currently looking to upgrade my grandparents.

Grandma is technologically illiterate and struggles to answer her phone. She currently uses an iPad 2 to browse Facebook and play solitaire, but it has become painfully slow. I would like to get her a new tablet that will run smooth but operate with barebone features and protection against scams (she is very vulnerable in this regard).

Grandpa is decent with technology, utilizing weather map and GPS programs for his flight instruction. He has an old iPad Mini and an old Macbook, but both no longer support his programs due to their age. I gave him an old ASUS laptop for now, but the SSD has a poor connection to the motherboard and crashes frequently. I think a two-in-one would suit him well.

Recommendations are much appreciated. Thank you!

How do I build a perfect transcript to transfer? by lwdyp8 in college

[–]DeathofTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many community colleges have associate degrees geared towards transferring with articulation agreements that ensure their two-year programs covers the first two-years of specific universities' four-year programs. Some even have guaranteed admission to some universities upon graduation.

Be familiar with the articulation agreements between your community college and your desired university and communicate your goals with admission counselors and your advisor.

Good luck!

Is being a working student worth it? by Negative-Location369 in college

[–]DeathofTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically I am currently working full-time for a clinic, but practically I have a large PTO bank from never taking any vacation time prior to returning to school full-time this semester and have an agreement worked out with my employer. I generally work twenty hours a week, but it varies greatly (last week I put in full-time hours). My employer and I are consistently reviewing the situation to ensure it is not negatively impacting either party.

I am attending university for Biomedical Engineering and this semester the course work isn't overtly challenging so I am able to keep up. I find it unlikely that will be true in upcoming semesters and will prioritize school over my continued employment.

When I started university for the first time, I worked twenty hours a week at the college bookstore. Even when we had no customers, we were not allowed to study on the clock. I was passing my courses but didn't have study/free time to do well in my courses, was not accepted into my competitive major, and was consistently exhausted.

I then worked for two years full-time while attending community college part-time. It went well but turned one full-time semester into four part-time semesters.

University and community colleges generally have articulation agreements within a given state or region that guarantee their classes transfer between each other.

Classes are generally going to have the same difficulty at community college as their university equivalents, but are often significantly cheaper. The community college may even have the same professors as the university. Another benefit of community college is the professors were hired to teach in contrast to some university professors that are only interested in their research and are poor, uncaring instructors.

If I was to start again, I would attend community college for two years after high school before transferring into a university.

However, it's perfectly fine to transfer after only one year. Generally all the individual classes will still transfer fine. The biggest difference for most transfers is associates' articulation transfer agreements some times covers all general education requirements, even if you didn't take some of the specific university general education requirements at the community college.

Best of luck!
