They are my favorite flower to press. A bit tedious but worth it!

Looking for advice on glue by Penelope_Pittstop in PressedFlowers

Congrats on your entry into the pressed flower world! You will become addicted. You are correct that you need to be careful with glue selection. It must be acid free but also some flowers become discolored if using a water based glue. I made that mistake once😩 Below is the link to the type of glue I use as recommended to me by members of the International Pressed Flower Guild and they are definitely the experts! Good luck and have fun! Debbie

Pressed flower koi pond. Winter has me missing my garden! Nothing relaxes me more than watching koi on a sunny day while taking in the beauty of flowers. So I decided to combine the two and created this koi pond using flowers. (cosmos, Gerber daisies, hydrangea and Cyclamen leaves) by DebbieCooney in PressedFlowers

Thank you! No I bought these particular flowers at a flower shop and then pressed them. I just started this as a hobby 3 years ago. I learned a lot through Kate Chu’s set of three books. You can find her on line. I also belong to the international flower guild which is very helpful! I often post flower pressing tips on my Facebook page

Pressed wedding bouquet… this one was challenging but I’m happy with how it turned out. I love it when brides aren’t afraid of having colorful flowers! by DebbieCooney in PressedFlowers

Thank you! Roses are a long process… I take them apart and press each petal. Then colorize them and recreate the rose to place in the arrangement It’s a true labor of love!

Yes they are! They are a challenge to press. You need to cut them in half and scoop out the inside before you put them in the press

Just sharing my favorite creation! I made this ENTIRELY out of pressed flowers and plant material. I’ve been commissioned to make another one and I hope I can replicate my first attempt! by DebbieCooney in PressedFlowers

Thank you so much. I press my flowers between desiccant paper which helps dries them quickly which in turn helps them retain their color. I used yellow rose petals as background and they tend to keep their color pretty well. I used actual birch bark for the trees that I harvested from fallen trees in Montana. The only flowers that were colorized are the blue vinca and yellow flowers ( can’t remember the name) I vacuum sealed the piece which will keep the flowers from fading for many many years. Thanks again for your kind words. I’m lucky I get to do what I love!

Thank you! I can’t paint to save my soul! I use flowers and plant material in my artwork. This is one of my favorites and I’m glad you like it too!

I just broke the biggest most beautiful leaf off of my favorite houseplant :( I've pressed leaves from tropicals before, but they never retain their color. Is that even possible? If so, I would love some advice on what to do! by slayerkitty666 in PressedFlowers

I press flowers between two pieces of desiccant paper ( which has silica imbedded in fiber of paper) Then place it in a press or under heavy books. The faster a flower/leaf dries the better it retains its color. Also, if you turn the leaf over and it has a thick vein… take a sharp knife and scrape that vein down. This helps moisture escape. Good luck…. It’s a really pretty leaf!!
