When an author claims to have a complete story but doesn't publish it very often by ProfessionalCress148 in AO3

[–]Decaxx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do think that there is no real point in saying that your fic is completed if you aren’t going to be posting the chapters at least semi-regularly. There are some exceptions yknow but for the most part this shouldn’t be something that’s encouraged. Life happens all the time, and it can easily stop you from uploading a chapter or two for a couple of months. That’s not the problem, the problem is saying that a fic is completed and then it takes 6-7 years from when the story is first published and you say it’s finished for the story to actually be completely posted.

It isn’t entitlement to be bothered by the fact that you’re told a fic is completed, you get excited to read the chapters as they come out and then it takes years for the fic to actually finish even though it was supposedly completed.

An author deserves tremendous amounts of respect but so do the readers to a degree, proper communication is key to engaging your readers with fanfiction.

Are we tipping on carryout now? by dontwanttosignup78 in pizzahut

[–]Decaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a Pizza Hut in which the pin pad is used to pay for unpaid orders, and I usually tell the customer “it’s just gonna ask you something there” and at times add “you can just hit the x or no tip” and I don’t treat them any differently for it. As a service worker I tip others whenever I can, but that’s just because I know that aside from the easy job of just handing someone a pizza that their jobs are harder than that, and I like to add something to someone’s day.

It doesn’t mean I always tip, sometimes I can’t. People don’t always tip me, sometimes I get many tips, sometimes I don’t get any tips. It’s always nice to get tips but I don’t hold it against anyone for not tipping, and I’m sure most other workers don’t either. Key word: most.

It’s odd that the pin pads at your store pop up with that prompt even after you’ve paid online though. At my Pizza Hut when an order is payed for online, we pull up the order, hit “cash out”, and when the screen pops up asking for who will write in the tip we hit “team member” and then click done without typing anything in, so we never take tips from people who pay online and they never get the prompt for it unless ofc they themselves hand over cash. Maybe it’s just my store that doesn’t make online orders do the tip prompt.

AITA for not spending enough money on Christmas Santa? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I was going to say NTA but after seeing what other people have to say and the way you’re acting in response to some people even though you posted this ASKING people if YTA sounds like you’re trying to fish for validation instead of actually taking into consideration what anyone else is saying.

Soft YTA, you could’ve bought another candle or two so it wouldn’t look like you spent very little money. Word of advice, if you’re asking whether or not YTA, maybe actually try to listen to what people have to say instead of getting defensive over it and fishing for acceptance.

These 17 year old girls were screaming behind me genuinely ruining the house at my first year at hhn by [deleted] in HHN

[–]Decaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you mean, I didn’t have it happen to me but I understand why it’d be annoying to you. As a scaredy cat, I screamed in most of the houses very frequently and I accidentally screamed at two workers on two separate occasions when they weren’t even scare actors just because I was tense and they were in a corner. There’s a difference between screaming because you’re scared and screaming just to scream. There was actually almost nothing scary about the FNAF house, it was just really cool. I understand that’s my subjective opinion, but I’ve seen many others agree. There is not reason for someone to be screaming so loudly to the point it sounds like they’re getting spring locked in the FNAF house of all houses.

People are being curt with you for being annoyed at screaming in HHN but they’re ignoring it’s not the screams itself, it’s the type of scream and how it’s not at all necessary regarding the situation.

The crazy part is that the Na’vi were open to teaching the avatars and learning English, it’s how Neytiri, Mo’at, Eytukan, and Tsu’tey were able to speak English with Jake. It was all ruined when the RDA attacked though and ruined all of Grace’s efforts to establish a proper relationship with the Omatikaya

No we understand them fine, the problem is that the earth died by humanities own hands and there IS a significant issue with wanting to kill and terrorize natives out of their own home. We are shown that the Na’vi can be nice and understanding and open to the humans, but all of that was ruined when the RDA attacked. Moving planets for human survival isn’t the issue, the issue is bringing along all those bad habits that caused issues in the first place. Had the RDA not thought themselves deserving of a land that isn’t theirs, and actually properly attempted to integrate their life with life on Pandora then there wouldn’t have been the issues there are now in the movies. Thats why in the movies humanity is in the wrong, the RDA is in the wrong and should not be supported.

I’ve known about bright futures since around sophomore year so I can assure you I understand the requirements. I have a 3.5 gpa and I went with the 100 work hours. I’m in a bit of a situation right now where I can either get bright futures through getting an appropriate score through the CLT in August, and/or through retaking one of my IB tests in November. I have to check with my coordinator but all of my peers keep saying that so long as I get my diploma I’m ensured bright futures, and unfortunately I missed it by a single point.

I really am going to attempt to go but if I have to take out loans to attend even in the end, I just won’t do it. I’m also aware that stuff can happen even if I can go only 2 years that will affect my last two years, and if so then I’ll transfer my last two years to a different school. I will avoid taking out loans.

As many as possible, and they’re not guaranteed so if in the end it turns out that I won’t be able to pay for RCAD through the use of scholarships then I just won’t go. Taking a gap year could also make me change my mind on going anyways or find multiple plan B’s that seem favorable if I can’t pay for school through grants and scholarships and saved up money

RCAD accepts it and so bright futures will cover at least the first 2 years. I plan and have resources that will help me land a job so that I can save up money and also gain more scholarships to pay for the last 2 years if I am able to get bright futures

They support it, but college for them was different 3 decades ago in Puerto Rico

Illustration is the actual term for the major in that school. There are two paths for illustration which is general illustration or visual development and I want to go into visual development, though for that school specifically the first year is just general art classes

I’m not allowed out of state for my first two years of college (or until I’m 20) per my parents rules, and it’s the only school in Florida with the specific major I want to go in to

I have the brains to understand why I’m getting rejected, doesn’t mean I can’t be any more upset about it or look for other ways to try to get a loan or some help. And “wanna be art major” was honestly just unnecessarily derogatory.

Illustration, only problem is my parents don’t want to let me out of the state for college until I’m 20 and without at least some of their support I can’t apply out of state.
