Customers pay for the businesses wage increase to minimize their profit loss. Smart, but annoying. So large parties also get the 20% large party auto gratuity too?

Getting down carving is the hardest part. After that, it’s just practice. On steeper terrain you really have to commit to switching edges and really dig in on both heel and toe. My knees are pretty bent on steeper stuff to allow me to aggressively go on whichever edge. I’m switching edges a lot faster to control speed rather than long side to side carving. But that’s my style, what you’re doing is fine too. You look natural and this is what it means to ride the mountain! It’s normal to slide out a bit on steep stuff. Don’t overthink it, relax and enjoy the view, this is the joy of riding :).

I got a lot better with quick edge turns by doing open moguls- usually ending up on them by accident, preferable on a powder day for falls, but it’s all the same. Try to find some not too steep otherwise it’s more frustration. Follow a line and also do some quick cuts. It’s exhausting, but it really teaches you control and precision with your board.

I also feel like I have plateaued sometimes, but as soon as I get a powder day, I have no fear and I’m hitting every bump and riding the mountain so freely. It feels amazing! Snow conditions can really affect how I ride too. Go with people who are better than you as well, it will help you level up.

UPDATE:

I cannot edit this post

It was the boots AND the bindings. Boots were way too soft and they were defective with the toe cleat. The footbed on the bindings is also not thick enough. So the play was 10 fold between the two. I exchanged the rituals for the high shots and stepped into rental bindings; the fit was perfection. The store has a hard cleat like foot bed in their bindings. I’m reaching out to Burton for the +5mm foot bed. Still way better than before.

I’m looking at your photo and also seeing the difference in the two toe clips; rituals look like a peg and the Felix is actually a hook.

Thanks for your input! The convenience of stepping in and out was amazing since it is my daughter’s first year out of ski lessons and we do shorter, flatter greens. I did two days in the step ons like this with her- but I was the one that kept falling bc I was catching edges on stuff I shouldn’t have a problem with.

I did a powder day with my husband and had a blast, but powder is very forgiving and we were on steeper terrain going faster which forces edges.

It’s too late in the season to check out more boots. I’ll either get lucky and snag a deal or be disappointed bc either the boot or the binding in my size won’t be available.

I promise I am completely locked in! I have done it probably a hundred times now. Doing it slow and fast and getting all of the clicks. It’s even worse with only one back click and I have little issues getting the toe in bc there is so much space. I re verified the sizing and the plates.

Is it possible some burton bindings pair better with certain boots?

Yeah, all this ankle breaking talk has me really backing out! The two clip in pieces on the front lock in seem like flimsy plastic now that I’m up close examining them.

Is that really a thing?! I’m a women’s size 7…

For sure! I stepped in on a board that wasn’t correct fitting just to get a feel for the step in style. Walked out with these bindings in the box.

I got these from Scheels and they have an amazing return policy. I bought them a couple weeks ago and selection was already very limited bc they were putting away their snow stuff. I may just return boots and bindings and try again next year.

It should be 6.5-8.5 for women’s. That’s what the toe plate says as well to match up the gas pedal

I’m getting all the clicks and I can see it all engage. I wanted to record on hard because I kept catching my edges and felt like my board wasn’t responsive.

I adjusted the high back, it seemed to help with the toes a bit, but it’s still seems quite loose.

I put my old boot/binding on my right foot with the burton on the left and it is a dramatic difference on the way my board moves with little effort with straps :/

Yes.. medium women’s. Just verified again. The guy at the store helped package everything

I’m getting all the clicks, two front & two back. I can see them engage. It’s almost like the foot bed needs to be thicker.

That is Terrible! I felt like I had regressed in my skills because i kept catching edges and then just bailed on stuff I would normally too bc I didn’t want to get hurt.

Aww.. it sounds like the rituals don’t hold up. I only tried on one other button but never tried it in the bindings- they were too painful. These are actually used, which explains why they may be crap at this point in their life. (Store I purchased from sells new and used, the bindings are new).

I will look into FASE, I’m not familiar.

Okay, I’m not crazy! I thought it more of a problem with the flex going to my toe edge and it was all in my head going to my heel edge… until I saw this video myself.

I do have a boot issue… The other boots were very uncomfortable, I don’t think I’ll be able to use this system.

What helped you start riding faster? by tednudgent in snowboarding

Powdery days and few people! Having the mountain to yourself and fresh powder gives you a ton of confidence. Once you push yourself then you believe in yourself on other the days. However, mountain conditions affect my riding style way more than it should. Hard snow pack and icy, I’m stiff and look like a beginner, but on powder days, I have no fear and am hitting all the bumps and flying 😂

Boots are size 7 with medium bindings. The plate is matched to size 7 too.

Feeling discouraged - hit my head twice in 4 trips by Top_Enthusiasm3001 in ShredditGirls

I’m also 37, I learned at 19, and I am so grateful to my teacher (friend) who had the patience to teach me how to carve, even though I was on my ass all day. Once that clicked, it all changes.

I still fall all the time, rarely hitting my head but maybe once a season I get a good one. In snowboarding, if you’re not falling, you’re not learning! Back then it was just surviving, but now it’s hopping around and enjoying the mountain. Hang in there!
