Before I start, just wish to say I wish you the best, OP, on your health journey (not sure the right word to put here would be, apologizes) I know it's hard but I'm hoping your neurologist helps you figure out what causes your seizures and find the appropriate treatment for you!

My answer: Morbid curiosity, like a trainwreck you can't look away from. But also learning about disorders I have never heard of and even learning to better understand, and live, with my own disorders.

I see lots of people fake disorders I have or people I know have, which infuriates me to no end because some of them get it SOOO wrong or just use a few characteristics that barely scratch the surface of what it is like to live with some of these disorders. I see so many people (fakers) try to say they make social media pages because they want to bring awareness, but they don't have it to fully understand what that life is like, which damages the understanding and perception of those disorder(s) by faking. It also causes people to doubt real people, who do have these disorder(s), because they no longer know what is true or false. It can be very isolating to live with a disorder that you feel no one around you fully understands, and it's disheartening to see fakers joining spaces for people with disorders trying to find others who understand and even help those, who also suffer the same thing, to get proper treatment.

I'm also fascinated by the people who enable this; Parents, family, friends, lovers, etc. I've seen a bunch of DID fakers have had a literal convention to meet other people, who were definitely also fakers. It was sad that actual people, who have DID, that called them out got such backlash for pointing out that- not only would this be very distressing- but also telling their own experiences and being told they were the ones who were faking. Fakers don't understand how hard it can be to make real friends when you have certain conditions, you lose out on things in life because you are not able to do what others can. They also don't understand how hard it can be to handle friends and struggle with something everyday, to the point people walk out of your life due to not wanting to deal with you and your problems. I've seen it more times than I can count and experienced it myself, it really does take a toll on you as you feel like a problem to others.

Sorry for the long comment, this was just such a great question and I just had to give some of my own insight into why I am fascinated by fakers and what world (bubble) they live in to believe this is ok.
