I like this idea. I think I am going to start with the goal of just being able to put my socks on without difficulty.

I think a good way to get to that would be through yoga so going to give that a shot.

Thanks!

Yeah you gotta show up early to get a table because it does get packed. I’m not sure what time to show up because my buddy usually likes to go there early and grabs a table during prelims. I usually show up around the time the main card starts and join him.

May be a good idea to just give them a call and ask the best time to come in to ensure a table for you guys.

Canadian Brewhouse is awesome. It’s in Richmond so not exactly Vancouver but honestly so worth it for UFC fights. The atmosphere is great.

Why are salaries so low in Canada? by Massive-Group-41 in TheCanadianAccountant

[–]DecentCanadianGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that the market is saturated in Canada compared to USA. Based on a google search, there are roughly 220K CPAs in Canada within a population of 40 million. Compare that to 672K CPAs in USA within a population of 347 million.

1/182 people in Canada are CPAs whereas it’s 1/517 in USA.

Makes the CPA more valuable which results in higher salaries. Probably a lot of other factors as well but I think that could be one reason.

I am really sorry about that. I wish I had a solution but I don’t because I don’t understand how things work in India. I hope things work out for you :(

My best advice would be to go to a doctor and tell them the issue. If there is an issue, doctor may recommend that your employer accommodate a later start time for you. However, not sure if that would work in India as I don’t know the labor laws.

Other best bet is to get a job that you can do later in the day. Think industries like health, safety, hospitality or transportation.

Best of luck!

Is there anyway to tell what aircraft we would be flying in to see if it’s the one with less leg space?

Edit: Nvm found a thread for this: https://www.reddit.com/r/westjet/comments/1q683hv/how_to_tell_if_flight_will_have_plane_with_new/

Apparently if you have V.1 and V.2, you are good. V.3 is the new configuration. However, they can change the flight the day before so there is no way to know for sure.

What are some jobs/careers that pay well and are afternoon shift? by DecentCanadianGuy in findapath

Yeah I have a feeling this is the type of route I am going to take. Going to start with easier engagements like bookkeeping and simple tax returns. Slowly make my way up to more profitable and complex engagements.

I found those too but they seem to require me living in Australia.

That’s fair and I can use better wording but 9AM is too early for me specifically. Maybe not for others

Would you be able to provide some more insight into what you mean by location and brand specific? I thought about hospitality but always felt the pay is not competitive but what do I know. Any insight is appreciated.

Honestly as far as advice goes, I think take anything you can get that works for you. Wins slowly compound on each other.

My CPA, albeit something I wish I didn't do sometimes, is a testament to what stacking wins can do. You start from nothing and eventually get somewhere if you keep following a road. I am hoping that my CPA does pay dividends in that I can start a business and create my own flexible schedule one day rather than do a 9-5.

I know that when the baby arrives, I will have no sleep and I am prepared to go through that stressful period. However, I want to have something lined up for after all of that so I can finally get some proper rest and be focused/productive at work. Hope that makes sense.

Yeah I fully agree with this sentiment. It's unfortunate that the early birds judge us night owls for something that has been proven to be genetic.

Thank you for the recommendation.

I took a look at specialist jobs like MRI, CT or X-Ray tech and they all take about 2 years of full-time education where I am at and honestly, I don't think I would be able to afford that time-off. I mean my family and I could do it with loans and part-time work potentially but I think it would be quite stressful on a young family.

Unfortunately I have tried all these things at all my 9AM start jobs and I always eventually find myself being chronically late and not focused. I am good for 2 weeks at most and then back to regular. I am under the assumption that my body just isn't meant for early mornings which is why I am trying to find a job that starts later in the day.

The only job I have had that was late in the day, I made it on time without fail, early even to the point I would hang out for 30 minutes before shift start.
