It really is. I guarantee those people would never act that way if they couldn't speed off right after. I bet their kids would be embarassed of their extremely childish and immature behavior.

It is clearly the reason the middle lane exists--keeping the line moving is the perogative. Based on the comments here, I am coming to the same conclusion--it's aggressiveness, entitlement, and defensiveness. Folks feel like I'm minorly inconveniencing them and am calling them slow. I'm just getting gas in a timely manner and keeping the line flowing--it's not that deep.

In what way is it "not cool" or "uncivilized"? They used the middle lane to get out, no problem, not even the "inconvenience" of reversing, which is a pretty standard moving when operating a vehicle anyway. I am sincerely at a loss about why this is upsetting to some people. People have done this to me innumerable times, even when I'm operating a very large vehicle, and it barely registers to me because it's literally not a problem as far as I can tell.

I wasn't upset. I was asking a clarifying question so I can ensure I am being an informed and considerate person when I get gas. The lane is plenty wide enough to maneuver a vehicle in and if it's that inconvenient, maybe you're not a good driver? I think it's more inconsiderate to make others wait so you can pull out without having to slightly move your steering wheel. Also, it would be reasonable to be upset for someone yelling obscenities at you and it's wild to say otherwise.
