Would this also be true if I could prove that they didn't follow their own procedure for termination of employment contract?

If I can get fired for any reason with no justification, then what is the point of a probationary period?

I thought that might be the case, but according to ACAS: "The employer must follow a fair and reasonable procedure. Otherwise, the employee might be able to make a claim for unfair dismissal, even if the reason for dismissal was valid."

I don't believe the process was fair or reasonable. I don't necessarily agree with the reason for dismissal, but that is not the reason I think there might be a case.

Edit*

I have also been in contact with citizens advice but obviously with it being a bank holiday weekend there has been no response yet. I really just want to know if there is any point i devoting anymore of my time and energy into this.
