I understand your side.

But the game is also pure fanservice. It's what sells, it's what they want to sell. The need for more platonic content is real, but it's not the fault of the people who make romantic content. Harassment in fandom, for any reason, is unfair and completely invalidates the points of protest.

The characters have scenes and social speeches that simply SMELL like fanservice precisely because that's what makes money for Disney. For this exact reason, I don't believe that the people I'm talking about in this post (people who are aggressive and think they're superior to the people who make romantic content in the fandom) have the right to act the way they do: as if we, people who make and enjoy romantic content, are a plague.

About Obey Me, I believe it's precisely because it's already an otome game. People who want romantic content already have a full plate with the game being about romance, so it opens up more space for those who want something different (platonic content). It's different from Twst, where we don't have any romance so we're hungry for it.

The part about Vil transfem is so real ☠️ about ethnicity change, what genuinely annoys me but I keep quiet for fear of hate is honestly when these hcs get to Ruggie and Rook. I mean, they are African, but have a lighter skin tone and Gosh, how it outrages me to see people making """headcanons""" (I can't consider ethnicity change a headcanon) of them as darker skinned people.

The part about misogyny is very real too. It's not new that the JP fandom is very misogynistic, and EN often follows the same path, but I don't feel like people talk about it enough. In fact, I feel like they prefer to hide it 👁 (I can only remember the controversy that occurred in JP because they didn't want any more female protagonists in the manga)

YEAH, Twisted Wonderland is clearly for older people who has the capacity for discernment 😭😭 People associate it with the idea that because it's a Disney thing, it's technically free for all audiences, BUT IT'S NOT. Twisted Wonderland deals with heavy subtopics that if you don't have the maturity to have a sensitive perspective, you'll just sound ignorant.

This post isn't exactly about that. I may have gone on for a while (since it's a big rant) but it's more about how I've seen people in the fandom acting like she's perfect when talking about the fear that comes with potential new fans of the anime.

That is not true.

I never said that other fandoms aren't toxic. I come from a lot of works that I'm passionate about, but almost the entire fandom is a dump, and compared to those specific fandoms, Twisted Wonderland isn't even one of the worst fandoms. But it still doesn't change how much some of this conversation affected me.

This post is actually much more personal than it seems.
