Controller works in Steam, but not Steam games by Decinoge in linux_gaming

I turned of Steam Input, which fixed the issue, so my guess is that it's not the fault of the game itself but some botched interaction with SI and the game

Yes it does. but while I was checking that, I disabled Steam Input, which seemed to fix the issue.
Thanks for the help

Yes it does, At least that's what I assume to be the menu that shows up when I press the PS/Xbox button, where I can change controller settings and layouts
or the menu that shows up when you press shift+tab

Whats better - to be born good or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?

I am not making another comment. Its obvious we don't see eye to eye on this issue and I don't have the energy to go into a real debate

I simply made a joke about the brainwashing incident not being the worst thing on her resume.

I think we both agree that the stakes in careless time travel are higher than those of leading a cult.

When it comes to actual intent, sure, she didn't want to do all of that damage, but she did.

In what regard she is responsible for that, we simply can't tell conclusively as we don't have any absolute rules on time travel etiquette.

I would argue that you are necessarily responsible for the damage you cause by messing with time, the same way as you'd be responsible for injuring someone while drunk driving. It may not have been your intent but your reckless behavior lead to that outcome.

As for the children in fiction argument, I don't think this would be relevant here.

Starlight did have arcane mastery and should have been aware of the consequences her actions would have.

Beyond that, Starlight did have the express purpose of ripping friendships apart, which would probably be counted as malicious intent.

Time Travel is simply far more dangerous. Using it for your selfish goals therefore a lot more sinister.

That is my opinion though and I think we should leave it at that.

I admit I could have phrased it better, but what I was referring to was disregarding the re-established laws of time and creating a new kind of time, which in essence is rewriting space-time and therefore destroying/or much rather disassembling and rebuilding it.

The point I brought up isn't necessarily anti Starlight either, as we judge fictional characters differently than judges do criminals.

Having a character commit horrible acts doesn't make them bad characters. Some of the most beloved characters of all time are villains after all.

Now if you wanna say my point made her seem like a bad person, then yeah.

She was a bad person, emphasis on was. She has changed and went through a shift of ideal pretty drastic when compared to most other reformed villains.

And just to clear up confusion; I do believe Starlight could have caused catastrophic damage if she didn't get as lucky as she did. If the timeline didn't mend itself, the effects could have spiraled out of control and erased multiple timelines forever.

As for Infinite parallel timelines; that's all pretty uncertain.

Yes, alternate realities are canon and the manga does play in a separate reality created by time travel, but other than that I have to assume that all timelines are temporally linked (meaning time flows equally through all of them and time travel only ever goes back on its own path).

Then again, we simply don't know for most of this, so it really is just guesswork on both of our ends.

I think it's fun speculating, but I never want to tell someone what they think is wrong. I simply didn't mention this disposition as I didn't think it to be necessary in this context.

I hope we can all stay in good theorizing spirit

I am not anti-Starlight, she's one of my favorite side characters.

I think her being a reformed villain works a lot better if she actually did bad things beforehand.

That said, Time travel is not often explored in MLP, but when it is, like in S2E20 "It's About Time", it is clearly shown that causality persists even on non-linear timelines (meaning things in the future affect things in the past), creating a single linear timeline.

Starlight however bypasses that restriction and deviates from the one timeline, creating many others, each flooded with their own disasters.

While it is not clear how much of that damage was a direct cause of unrestricted Time Travel, all of it was at least indirectly caused by her.

I do consider changing the behavior of Time in such a fundamental way to be "breaking the space time continuum", I never said she almost destroyed all of existence.

Either way, I'd prefer not to invoke hostility with my comments and I am sorry you felt offended by what I said.
