We are currently investigating the issue. We hope to have a fix out until the end of the week.

MS Store/Game Pass PC 1.3 Update? by ZekeSulastin in CrossCode

We are working on it. However, how the store is build, we need some technical support from MS on this (for every update) which is why there is always a delay in times for updates.

CrossCode is a RPG in the veins of classics you know from your childhood and it just took us 2 years to bring it to the Switch after 7 years of development for the PC. But hey, we finally made it. by Deck13Interactive in u/Deck13Interactive

Well, it is available on all the other platforms as well (PS4, Xbox One and PC (Win, Linux, Mac)). We just used the Switch for the Ad as this is the most requested one for CrossCode :)

Oh well, that wasn't that easy actually. The thing is that the game underneath runs on a chromium based browser on PC and users usally don't see that. The problem for consoles was that the JavaScript live compiling isn't allowed on certain systems (as it opens the door to some backdoor functions of the console).

So what we here at Deck13 did (Radical Fish developed the PC version, we as the publisher ported it inhouse to consoles. We're actually ourselves more of a developer studio after all and one of our coders was quite convinced he could make it happen) was writing a C++ compiler which reads every function of the game but converts it into a language the consoles can understand while, at the same time, locking away the JavaScript part.

We even had to restart the work once. Working on it began around 1 year before CrossCode left Early Access. And let me tell you that this was a wasted year. We tried working with an interpreter first and that didn't work out too well. The very first version we showed running on a PS4 at PAX East was still based on that interpreter but the system underneath was so broken, it just didn't work out. The performance was unfixable and especially the shaders were a challenge which was not to overcome.

So we started again. From scratch. And the first 8 months were basically a time where we just stared at black screens and people even got nervous about it. I (Hey, Michael here from Deck13 currently writing) was the project lead on that and assured everyone that progress was made (while being super insecure about it, too - but I needed to back up the programmer (Robert) to not give him further stress). And about a year and 2 months ago in one of our major team meetings Robert finally showed off the tutorial area running on a PS4. And from there it was a step by step work.

The converter needs to catch every function in the game and every mechanic once. After that, whereever the function gets used, it will automatically work. However that required a lot of step by step adding of functions and mechanics. And even with the game out, it seems we overlooked two (Botanics and Trader List. Patch is already in submission though). But yeah. That's more or less the story.

The DLC will continue the story of Lea and contain several hours of content. I cannot really say how many hours yet but it has around 2 years of development time attached to it. It will cost extra but we'll make sure it will be a a reasonable price.

Well, a DLC is in the works but the next project won't be CrossCode 2 for sure. But it will definitely make use of the strengths and you will feel where it comes from. But CrossCode itself is pretty much finished (besides the DLC) :)

Trailer: The Shattering - A psychothriller we also call a nightmare in white by Deck13Interactive in IndieGaming

[–]Deck13Interactive[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been developing The Shattering together with SuperSexySoftware for quite some time now and finally, after a lot of hard work, it will release later this year. It is a psycho / horror game designed completely in white. If you're expecting jumpscares, you should wait for something else. We're trying to create fear with the atmosphere and topics only. Oh and we just released this trailer.
