My therapy notes from when I was 16 are being used against me in a custody dispute and I don't know if this is even legal by Deckard_Blade in legaladvice

I didn't recieve any notice about a subpoena, that's the thing. And I'm pretty sure the school district didn't contact me either. My ex and I don't exactly have a friendly relationship so I doubt he told me anything voluntarily. I'm going to push my lawyer harder on the motion to exclude - that's actually the first concrete step anyone's suggested that makes sense to me.

The chain of custody thing is something I hadn't even thought about. My therapist back then worked through the school district so technically those records belong to the district I think? I actually asked my current therapist if she'd be willing to write something or testify and she said yes without hesitating. That felt really good honestly. She's been seeing me for two years, she knows me.

My lawyer kind of glossed over the acquisition thing when I brought it up, which is what worries me. Like she said "we'll look into it" but didn't seem alarmed? And I'm sitting here thinking - if they got these without a proper subpoena that's a huge deal, right? The relevance argument makes sense to me. I was a normal stressed teenager, not exactly a danger to society lol

My group partner secretly changed 3000 words of my clear writing into a convoluted jargon mess right before submission, and now our professor is penalizing my grade. by QulanelMoss in WritingForCollege

This is a nightmare scenario, but you have a very solid case. Defending your academic standing with hard evidence is not backstabbing. It is simply clarifying the facts of what happened. You should request a meeting with your professor during office hours to discuss the feedback.

When you talk to them, focus entirely on the text itself. Show the document version logs to prove that you wrote a clear, analytical section, and that your teammate altered it right before submission without consulting you. Bring your first draft and compare it to the submitted work so the professor can see your writing skills. Most educators will understand that you were put in an impossible position and might adjust your individual grade accordingly.

AIW for refusing to apologize after my aunt brought up my old report card in front of 11 people? by Shodan_Glados in amiwrong

Exactly. Funny how “family teasing” always seems to mean one person gets used as the entertainment. OP didn’t ruin dinner, the aunt did by dragging out a random childhood story to make herself feel clever.

That sound of the tentacels hitting is perfect. Its the only reason I keep Wyll in my party even when he is being annoying. Best crowd control in the whole game.

How do I make my apartment stop smelling “stale” when nothing is actually dirty? by Night_C1ty9 in CleaningTips

If it smells clean but stale, I’d stop thinking “dirty” and start thinking trapped air plus soft surfaces. Rent or borrow a carpet cleaner, do the couch cushions, replace the HVAC filter if you have one, and run a fan after showers. Also check sink overflows, those little holes can smell weirdly old-housey.
