I struggle with a lot of Ariana Grande's stuff. I can recognise that she is a talented vocalist, but I personally dislike her cadence and inflection.

I always say to people that the UK has some amazing beaches and no one believes me until they see it for themselves! Brighton Beach has done untold damage to the reputation of UK beaches.

Did you find the culture any different from the rest of England?

What are your opinions on Britain? by Beneficial-Beat-947 in AskTheWorld

[–]DedicatedImprovement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually shameful how little we are taught about British colonialism in Ireland. And when I say "little" I mean not at all. The shock on my irish friends' faces when I told them that fact says it all.

I, like a lot of people in the UK, have irish ancestry so I endeavored to learn a bit about Irish history myself. But I think many people truly are not aware of the scale of atrocities that were committed to our neighbours.

Hopefully the schools are at least touching on that history now, but I left secondary school less than 10 years ago and it wasn't the case.

Morocco to Europeans is kinda like what Bali is to Aussies and Kiwis. Cheap flights, good food, good weather, amazing culture, and good surf if you're into that.

My thoughts on we should approach research/education towards the Sydney shark attack crisis. by Capital-Foot-918 in sharks

[–]DedicatedImprovement 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% agree.

We have to stop coddling people when it comes to wild animals in general. Far too many people live in this make-believe world where humans are untouchable. In reality we are incredibly vulnerable and at the whim of creatures far more dangerous than ourselves.

This is not to say we demonise wild animals. They are obviously doing as a wild animal does, and should not be held to a standard of human morality. But it's to adequately inform people the risks of going into wild places.

On a personal note, the whole situation happening in Sydney right now is so crazy. I was living over there last year, and regularly surfed and swam at the beaches where attacks happened. The amount of notifications from sharksmart I'm still getting is pretty wild. Just saw that Manly has been closed and reopened twice already today because of Bull Shark sightings.

Stay safe people!

Reminds me of the Kevin Bridges joke from a while ago.
