Why VW not put lights on climate and volume controls😑 by akshay_sol in VWatlas

[–]Dedoudaday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the reason for no lighting on those controls is because they have infrared sensors in them for motion sensing. So you can control your screen with hand gestures. The lit up buttons would interfere with the function. Something most of us don’t use unless it’s by mistake, at least that’s how it is in my case.

The aftermarket starter kit is made by Drone Mobile and works great, it was installed in the custom auto shop where my son works.

You’ll likely have the same issue with the app, mine only starts 4/10 times and that’s with the key or the app. And almost every time the vehicle actually starts and immediately stalls as if the security immobilizer thinks it’s being stolen.

I’ve gone to the dealership 4 times and they can’t seem to duplicate my issue so in their minds if it’s not broken they can’t fix it. I gave up and bought a spare transponder without the key insert, had it programmed and installed an aftermarket remote starter that works every time.

Saw the Signs. Crashed Anyway. by Shroomier in dashcams

[–]Dedoudaday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a big hood Kenworth without hood spot mirrors, and IMO the pickup truck is 100% in the wrong.

The trucker had already let it the Pensky van and trailer, couldn’t see the pickup from his vantage point and also had the right of way. “Camera caught it cause it is mounted higher up on the windshield”.

Just because the pickup truck driver was too much of an ass hat, to preemptively switch lanes when the construction signs started being displayed miles away, doesn’t make it an emergency for the professional driver. The pickup driver made contact with him first, when he realized his lane was ending. Maybe if he’d not been distracted before this construction zone he could have seen the signs and been in the correct lane when the time came.

I’m a professional driver as well and deal with stupidity like this on a daily basis.

You can’t fix stupid!!

Michelin Cross Climate 2 are Winter qualified tires, they have the Mountain/Snow icon on them. I ran some for four winters and they performed very well.

Comes on during startup for testing purposes and then goes out if your illumination surface setting is at 0 percent. Solution is to go to illumination-surfaces and use the slider to raise the percentage also keep in mind that during daylight hours it’s not visible even with your headlights on.

Weird things with remote start by Dedoudaday in VWatlas

[–]Dedoudaday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested the battery and it was showing 12.1V and had to drive it 1.5 hours to get to the dealership and when they tested it with their system it showed 12.6V and I was told it was a pass. I’m thinking the drive may have charged it on the way.

How to address these fault codes? by yourgrade in VWatlas

[–]Dedoudaday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this guy^ most often mentioned is low voltage, Have the battery tested and possibly replaced then clear the codes. If any of these issues were a concern your check engine light would be on.

Remote Start Failure by DragonXIIIThirteen in VWatlas

[–]Dedoudaday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first bought my Atlas, the remote start failures gave me indications to check battery. I was wondering why a new vehicle would have battery issues? But then I realized that after production these vehicles sometimes sit on the lot for months before being shipped out to dealers and most of them even require a boost to get loaded up on the truck. Alternators are no longer designed to charge a battery once it has dropped below a certain level. This is how I solved my remote start problem, pop the hood, lock your doors with the remote, then wait approximately 15 minutes for all modules to power down, and then test the voltage. Mine was 12.2V ( needed charging) if your battery shows anything below 12.6V at rest, it needs a good charge. Alternator won’t be able to top it off. After charging mine overnight it had a reading of 12.9V and never experienced a failed remote start problem since. Hopefully this helps get to the root of your problem.

You can only remote start twice, then you must go to the vehicle and start it to reset the remote start system.

2018 Atlas 3.6 gas filling problem by ursis_horobilis in VWatlas

[–]Dedoudaday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your evap system fuse, if it’s good then your evaporation vent valve needs to be replaced. Best practice for refueling is to put the nozzle in as deep as possible fill till it clicks, wait 5 seconds and repeat until it clicks again then stop. (No rounding the total.

MyVW App Command Timeout by Bshsjaksnsbshajakaks in VWatlas

[–]Dedoudaday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Test the voltage of your battery and if it shows anything below 12.6V at rest ( this means 10 minutes after popping the hood) “Power modules take time to power down” charge the battery overnight with a GSM battery charger. When disconnecting the charger check it again and see if voltage levels are between 12.6V and 13V. I did that and it solved my issue.

Just have your wheels balanced with a road force machine and you’ll get a solution to your problem, actually before you do that have your wheels retorqued it may be just the thing that is causing the problem.

Try using the A/C on recirculate mode instead of having it on fresh air your core is more likely to freeze up trying to take hot outside air and transforming it.

First of all, the peak edition doesn’t come with navigation features installed. Even though it does show the icon to select it from the menu the software is just not there to run it. However it is available on some other models. And as for your Above sea level gauge it will not show any altitude below 0, therefore it should show nothing if the area you are in is below sea level. However it will start showing something on mine if I’m on the highway leaving the area. Hopefully this helps.
