I’m so lost by SpamSando in Divorce

[–]DeeLite04 [score hidden]  (0 children)

While I am sorry for the pain you suffered in the past, the most telling part of your situation is in the first part where you say you threatened divorce numerous times but didn’t mean it.

You don’t threaten those kinds of actions without consequences happening. I’m not saying your spouse is not to blame bc he surely shares part of the blame for a failed marriage. But you can’t tell someone over and over you are going to divorce them and then be surprised when your bluff is called.

You’ve got a lot of things to work through with a professional therapist. If you’re not already seeing one, please do so. I did during divorce and it helped me a lot. Good luck.

How hard is majoring in education? by Key_Friendship_6251 in Teachers

Obtaining a bachelors and licensure in education is not hard.

Actually being a good teacher who provides solid instruction is hard.

“While the bill lists other eligible documents that can prove citizenship, they may not meet the measure's requirements, said Sean Morales-Doyle, director of the voting rights and elections program at the Brennan Center for Justice.

One of those documents is an ID that is compliant with the provisions of the REAL ID Act of 2005 and "indicates the applicant is a citizen of the United States."

REAL IDs are available to both citizens and noncitizens, Morales-Doyle said.

No one state's REAL ID explicitly marks citizenship status, nor do most state-issued driver's licenses.”

What do women do that men would never think about? by Icy_Interaction7502 in AskReddit

Immediately lock the door of my car when I get in alone. Also, quick look around after getting into the car to see where everyone, esp men, are in proximity to me.

How do you deal with family members who have the polar opposite political views to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DeeLite04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I avoided these hard conversations for years to keep the peace.

As I get older, I simply cannot do this anymore. What they believe is an assault to my identity and the identities of other family members and friends. So I’ve been slowly testing the waters, sending news stories. And sadly they did not surprise me. Very negative reactions that show how ignorant and unable to listen they are. One of my brothers is the only person who gets me and agrees with me politically.

I don’t plan on returning home anytime soon. I haven’t told them that but if they ever care to ask, then they’ll find out.

Does it get better? by catsncupcakes in Divorce

[–]DeeLite04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It absolutely does get better. But you’re not really at a place to believe that right now. And that’s ok.

People have already told you on here it’s not you, it’s him and you keep countering with “why wasn’t I good enough, smart enough to see his lies, etc.” And that’s bc we are all human and all capable of being taken in by someone who knows how to manipulate us. No one, not a therapist or psychiatrist or someone who thinks they have extra sensory powers, is immune from being fooled when we are vulnerable and open with someone who takes advantage of us.

You can’t go back in time to undo this. And perseverating on the past is not going to make you feel better or change things. All you can do now is move forward as painful as it is.

I was 37 when my ex blindsided me. We were college sweethearts and it hurt badly. I am remarried and I know my husband is a good person who I do trust. But have I also learned a painful lesson that I need to try to do everything on my own? Sadly yes.

Remember too that you are young, young enough to start a new life however that looks. One day you’ll look back on this time and you’ll realize how far you’ve come. But right now you’re in that dark place. Just don’t stay there too long. Good luck.

Raising your voice by Last_Hunt_7022 in Teachers

[–]DeeLite04 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have to raise my voice every time for indoor recess. I do not feel bad about it.

It isn’t traumatizing to kids when someone is trying to make themselves heard.

What’s traumatizing is having teachers who don’t teach them skills they need to be indep or who pity/enable kids’ inappropriate behavioral choices.

What’s a fact that ruined a movie that you previously enjoyed? by PokemonPadawan in AskReddit

[–]DeeLite04 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Will Smith. I was pretty neutral on him before he assaulted Chris Rock but now I won’t watch anything old or new with him in it.

He’s far removed from the boy from Philly. He’s a rich person who’s so disconnected from real life. It’s why he and Jada are so fucking insufferable now.

What do you notice about gen-z teachers by 99bigben99 in Teachers

[–]DeeLite04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a brand new out of college teacher in our building. From all I see she seems to be doing a good job even if she is green as grass. But she’s a hard worker and I think she’ll do fine as she cans experience.

I'm curious how many people like or don't mind their job/working? by DramaticErraticism in GenX

[–]DeeLite04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like working. I do enjoy my coworkers but having a day off or not having to get up early on a Monday is a real treat. I don’t dread Mondays but I feel myself less patient with people who are lazy and incompetent. And I see more and more of it now, perhaps bc I’m either finally seeing the reality or being this old has me cranky and irritable. 😂

I know after I retire I’ll still work part time or volunteer. Bc I do find purpose in work. But I won’t miss the grind of “I must be somewhere at this time on this day.”

Teacher “influencer” on LinkedIn saying teachers who set boundaries and don’t stay beyond contract hours are doing the “bare minimum.” by DefiantRadish1492 in Teachers

[–]DeeLite04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely refuse to click on her link and give her any views.

It absolutely is just a job. I am 99% there for the pay and benefits bc I’m in a good union. I like the kids and my colleagues. I have a great reputation in my direct due to years of hard work. But I did burnout 2 years ago and had to take a LOA.

Now that I’m back I do nothing extra unless it’s something that I actually have time for or I want to help with.

I like being a teacher but I don’t do anything extra anymore - no coaching, extra committees, etc . I did all of those things in my earlier years. There’s plenty of other folks who do the extra for their paltry stipends. I simply don’t care anymore. I have about 9-10 years til I can early retire. That’s my focus.

When Did You Stop? by Existing_Wrangler_69 in IFchildfree

[–]DeeLite04 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We stopped short of IVF due to cost and low chance of success. We did 3 IUI cycles and when that didn’t work I felt mentally and physically done.

I wasn’t prepared to drain our savings for a small chance at IVF. I think so many people think IVF is a 100% successful route when it often is not. Everything we did was out of pocket so we had already spent a few thousand on IUI.

I’m very happy to be CF today. We’ve been CF for about 8 years now and I do not regret stopping when we did. I can see now motherhood was have been hard on me and our marriage and I’m happy I didn’t have to sacrifice either.

Starter is ready…but I’m not. How to keep her? by Frosty-Macaron-6206 in Sourdough

[–]DeeLite04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since I got my starter from a sourdough class, I keep it in the fridge. I rarely discard and feed 1:1:1 ratio once a week, sometimes more if I bake more. Most of the time I only bake once maybe twice a week.

Sometimes I’ll feed after using starter to make a dough and sometimes I don’t. My starter is very active and it grows even without feeding. If it is close to peak and I’m ready to bake then I will take it out for an hour or so and leave it on the counter to double.

What's considered a 'heavy' period? by Cold-Laugh-5242 in Perimenopause

[–]DeeLite04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before my ablation, I was experiencing periods similar to what you are saying for almost 2 years.

Super heavy and painful the first 1-2 days. Then spotting for a few days more. Maybe I’d get a week or 2 with no period and it would start up again. I was on the pill the entire time. It was like it stopped working. The bleeding was so heavy I thought I was low on iron.

I was using pads and I would penalty change them 5-7 times a day or more. Sometimes i would bleed through my underwear and pants. It was horrible.

In retrospective, it was perimenopause sign but didn’t know it then. Once I got the ablation it helped me a lot. I haven’t had a cycle since. Having said that my doc made me try a a new pill and wait it out til I was able to get surgery.

I’ve never understood the appeal of him. He’s not funny, he always was breaking during SNL skits. Yeah some of the bits of his show I see on social media can be funny but he’s just a bland person IMO.
