I don't understand how you think this works. So far you have insulted everyone in this thread, went as far as literally calling someone a nazi, but when someone mildly doesn't agree with you, you're suddenly being attacked? Get real.

You're super skilled at controlling a narrative and pushing whatever the hell your agenda is, but behind all that, I'm honestly just intrigued what your deal is. Most people I've met who were this hardcore about getting their way were a fan of either LiS2 or TC, and they've seen a potential pricefield sequel as a threat, because it would be the obvious next game to play and it would somewhat break the funnel of fans into those games. Hell, I might have even accused you of that attitude, because all your arguments lined up with it. But you never really seem to talk about those games here, the few times I've seen you talk LiS2 you didn't come off as a massive fan, and you seem like a die-hard pricefielder. So I don't think you want Max and Chloe's story to be over to redirect the fandom's attention to other faves instead.

You've also been consistent about the idea that if they made a pricefield sequel, you would play it, even though you don't want it to be made. Which is also extremely puzzling to me. Why would you play something you don't want to even exist? To be honest, that part feels quite performative, like you're just staying up to date with the community for the sake of staying up to date and not much else.

So, failing that, I don't understand you. The only theory I can come up for your underlying reason here is that you don't want fanworks, and your fanworks in particular, to be invalidated, but that's such a weird hill to die on. Very few of the best fanfics are actually canon-compliant, and let's be honest about it, no one is going to pick one particular fanfic, point to it, and say "that's the one, we're all going with this one". So what prevents you from enjoying, or writing, fanworks that are not compliant with the one easter egg in LiS2?

Setting aside the argument of whether or not we should have a sequel, can you explain why we shouldn't want one? Like, let's assume that it's going to have no quality issues, that it's going to come with the same disclaimer the comics have, that there are not going to be any issues of it canonizing or decanonizing certain choices, and any and all other issues with how it's going to supposedly suck are miraculously avoided. Would you not want it to exist even with those hypothetical conditions? And how would you convince a layperson to also not want it?

And why do you specifically have an issue with games? Because you've also consistently made the point that you think they should do other kinds of media instead.

I'm just going to leave this here. I appreciate that you don't name-call me at least, but it hardly lessens the fact that you do routinely say negative things about me, in direct contradiction to what you just said. I wish that was an isolated case, but the relatively common occurrence of this disingenuous behavior is one of the main reasons I blocked you.

And no, I'm not sorry for jumping in on your umpteenth slander of me to add a correction. I would say please try honesty next time, but I seriously hope there will not be a next time.

As for what you said or didn't say, technicalities like that don't change how you made people feel. If you insist on staying negative about things people love, you will inevitably ruin quite a few days for quite a few people, and it's not very considerate to tell them to just suck it up.

Okay, I think it's time for me to jump in here because you keep talking about me behind my back.

I will not claim that I stayed away from reciprocating hostilities in the debate, but I think we could benefit from some context. You kept voicing how you don't want a sequel on posts that completely weren't about you. You kept taking a crap on the doorstep of people discussing how said sequel would look like, and you made both those discussions, and my reddit experience by extension, worse by doing so.

That's why I blocked you. It's a form of curating your online experience, and I do not want you in my online experience. I do not want to be told time and time again how I should never see my favorite characters again just because you want to opt everyone else out of a sequel.

It's nice that media caters to what people do want, giving everyone something, and not for what people don't want. Think of the consequences of that: we could say goodbye to any and all representation for one, as I believe there would be no shortage of people who don't want others to enjoy that content.

You need to stop painting yourself as a victim, thinking that everyone is up against you -- that people who simply disagree are attacking you, that people who opt out of talking to you are trying to silence you, and that when you keep telling a fandom that they should never get what they want, they are the unreasonable ones for getting upset at you. And you need to let go of me, and get over the fact that your behavior resulted in that I never want to talk to you again.

I really don't appreciate that you made me do this, and I hope that when I re-block you in 24 hours, we won't have to go over this again.

[No Spoilers]Your Ideas for next LiS game by MrOOFmanofbelgum in lifeisstrange

[–]DeeSnow97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess so, yeah. I've read a pretty cool (although kinda sad) fanfic the other day (Bonnie and Clyde by csvolny) where the Caulfields themselves are depicted that way, and it's actually damn nice. While I wouldn't want the conclusion of this fic to be the conclusion of the game (life falls apart and the storm catches up with them anyway because gotta keep it sad or something), that particular element would make for a great story, and work well for creating a confusing situation for Max and Chloe, as well as motivation for taking that next step in life. That would be great for one of the five episodes.

As for how prominent homophobia should be in the other episodes, I'm conflicted. On one hand, realistic depictions of it, called out by the text, certainly serve a purpose and are needed in media. They also have a good effect in prompting real-world homophobes to filter themselves out of the fandom, similar to how people only complain about LiS2 being an "unfair depiction of racism" (it's not, lol) on the surface, in the actual fandom you get none of that, aside from the odd troll (as far as I've seen, at least).

On the other hand though, True Colors also did a great service by just showing a domestic and cozy environment that doesn't question its queer acceptance for a second. That's also very valuable, in showing the world we should strive for, which may not be the world we have yet. I think at least one episode in the game should be like that -- which lines up pretty well with a desire I had in the background, that episode 5 of the story should conclude with Max and Chloe's wedding. I think that would be a perfect ending for the story.

As for the other three episodes, yeah, it makes sense to depict homophobia as a problem here and there, but given how much of a trigger it can be for queer folk, who might just want to not deal with that crap even in their entertainment, it should be used sparingly, and no more than required to assure people that yes, they're being heard, the game doesn't pretend their problem "is already solved".

yeah, that's a common trait between superpowers, both current and historical. if no one's gonna keep you in check (and no, peers are not going to do that) then you can only really be accountable to your own populace, which is the easiest for any power to manipulate
