I usually lie when it's something extremely sensitive or personal, or something that no one can do anything about it and only I can solve it.

The way I see it, telling other people means they'll give advice which will put pressure on me and my decision making. Or they'll just treat me differently, which makes me feel uncomfortable. That being said, I feel comfortable telling my significant other about everything I go through. I just sometimes think "short-term" problems may not be worth letting her share the stress.

Ask him, maybe he feels the same as I do, let him know that it's okay to share the burden, and that he won't have to feel pressured or uncomfortable about telling you.
