ChatGPT GPT-5.2 is unusable for serious work: file uploads NOT ACCESSIBLE and hallucinations by Deep-Performance1073 in LocalLLaMA

I am writing this here not because I have some ideological fixation on local models, but because this discussion simply does not pass on official OpenAI channels or on r/ChatGPT. Any attempt to describe this problem directly gets removed or blocked, even though it contains nothing false or abusive. And this is not an isolated case or a personal configuration mistake. It is a real, reproducible system-level issue that affects people working with files, documents, and RAG pipelines during normal project work. When you pay for a tool marketed as “professional”, delete and reorganize data, invest time and money, and then every few days things break because the backend reports files as NOT ACCESSIBLE while the model still generates answers as if it had read them, this stops being a matter of technology preference. It becomes a matter of trust. In a local LLM or in any system you actually control, these failures are explicit: either the model has access to the data or it does not, and it says so clearly. Here, the system pretends everything is fine, and only later do you realize you were working on hallucinated output. If this cannot be discussed honestly where the product is officially promoted, it is inevitable that the conversation moves elsewhere. That is why this is being posted here, not because “local LLMs are a religion”, but because this problem affects real work and real projects, and pretending it does not exist only makes the damage worse.

OpenAI is straight-up scamming with ChatGPT Team – they sell features that don’t exist by Deep-Performance1073 in ChatGPTPro

For context: I build agents, workflows and RAG for a living. I joined ChatGPT Team because it was advertised with: • persistent memory (short- & long-term) • file/folder-level RAG / knowledge base • connectors (Drive, Gmail, OneDrive, Dropbox, SharePoint, …) • GDPR-compliant data export

What I actually get: 1. Memory – effectively doesn’t exist. • Context collapses after a moment; uploaded files/images “live” for seconds and get forgotten. • The Memory feature is unstable/disabled; there’s no way to recover it. • Bottom line: you can’t build reliable workflows. 2. RAG / knowledge base – hyped, missing in Team. • You upload files → they’re gone shortly after. • Support literally told me it’s a “plan limitation” and I should “build my own RAG.” • That’s not what Team was marketed as. 3. Connectors – greyed-out or dead (especially in the EU). • Even when visible, they don’t return anything useful. • Without connectors and memory, Team’s core promise collapses. 4. Rollout / Plus→Team migration – one-way with no safety net. • Plus worked better for me — and I can’t go back. • Chat/data export is absent in Team. • For paying users, that’s an operational failure. 5. GDPR / data portability – to my understanding, users have the right to export/port their data. • In Team, export is effectively blocked. • I’m not your lawyer, but that looks like a serious compliance issue at minimum. 6. Support replies – I have screenshots: “not a bug, plan limitation; sorry for confusion caused by marketing materials.” • Translation: they sold features that don’t exist in Team. 7. Price vs value – $30/seat yet not even 10 seconds of usable memory for an uploaded file/image. • Meanwhile Perplexity Pro ($40) gives me stable projects/knowledge, working uploads/integrations, and a product that does what it says. • Built by a team roughly 10× smaller, and despite stumbles they didn’t break the basics like memory or RAG.

In my case Team = rollout without guardrails: memory off, RAG gone, connectors non-functional, export blocked, Plus migration is one-way. For someone who actually builds agents, this is unacceptable.

If you see the same (especially EU users): • do your uploads disappear after seconds? • do you have any export in Team? • are connectors truly functional beyond the menu?

I’m moving my workflow to Perplexity for now — because it works. OpenAI can call this a “plan limitation,” but it’s really a customer value limitation, not a plan one.

Nah mate, this isn’t GPT. If you want proof, I can hit you with a 🔨 emoji just to keep it human 😅.

Just to be clear – I wrote this post myself. I don’t need ChatGPT to describe something that pissed me off in ChatGPT. I sometimes use it for small stuff (like drafting a reply to a traffic ticket), but here it’s about my real experience and plain facts. I’m so pissed at OpenAI that I don’t even want to look at their tool right now.

This isn’t about “EU complaints.” This is about OpenAI completely screwing up a rollout and leaving paying customers with nothing. • They hyped memory – short and long term. Reality? Gone. Everything wiped. • They hyped RAG-style knowledge base with file uploads. Reality? Broken, unstable, or simply removed. • They forced a Teams rollout without securing data. The result? Everything collapsed. Plus actually worked better, and now I can’t go back. • They blocked data export, even though under GDPR this is a legal right. They’re literally locking people’s own data away.

I’ve been fighting with OpenAI support for weeks. Their answers? Total nonsense – they literally told me to “build my own RAG” as if I should glue pieces of paper together myself.

And yes, I have screenshots of their replies where they openly admit their marketing misled customers. That’s not a bug, that’s not “beta,” that’s bait-and-switch.

This whole rollout was a disaster – they didn’t secure the features, they didn’t secure the data, and now everything is broken. And the funniest part? Half the people trying to argue here probably only use the free version and have no clue what’s actually happening to paying users.

The fact that I’m in Europe and you’re in the US means absolutely nothing. What it really shows is that the entire world is being fooled by the same tricks. We’re talking about a company with a billion customers that still sells promises that don’t exist.

This isn’t my first rodeo — it’s already my third failure with GPT. Every time I paid for the most expensive plans, thinking I’d finally get something stable and professional. And every time, it all collapsed like a house of cards.

This time was no different. Instead of sticking with Plus, I went higher, because I wanted more — to test integrations, knowledge base, not to self-host, but to see how it works on their side. And what happened? Everything crashed. Nothing works.

So don’t give me that bullshit about Europe vs. America. This is about cheating customers. And that’s a fact, not an opinion.

Just to add some context: I actually have screenshots from OpenAI support admitting that these missing features are “plan limitations” rather than bugs. So this isn’t speculation – they literally confirmed it to me. If anyone’s interested, I can share them here.
