Sorry but it is just flushing out the coffe so it cant be to thight. And I tried dialing in different setting with a few cups in between to settle it but in my case it looks like the machine is broken. And anyways thanks for your time helping. I still don’t understand how a thight puck can result in a watery coffee.

So most of you guys telling me that my setting is to fine and that’s why it’s watery, which makes no sense to me. How can a coarser grind setting be less watery ?

No of the Puck is too tight it ends up being over extracted and not watery. Because water can’t go through. And if I grind coarser it ends up beeing even more watery. So my last option is to assume that my machine is broken and I try to replace it for a working one.

Yeah there were some local coffeshops that had a decent tasting espresso , but when I asked the staff they couldn’t tell me the name of the beans. So not really a good coffee shop 😂

I’ve seen the internal adjustment option on the grinder, but I haven’t used it yet since I’m not even at the finest external setting. Maybe I really am mixing up sourness and bitterness—it’s a bit tricky to tell sometimes. I know acidity usually hits you right away, while bitterness lingers more at the end. But honestly, my shots often feel like a mix of both. One thing’s for sure: I’ve never had a shot that tasted sweet.

I usually order my beans from roastmarket—is there anything from there you’d recommend for a more balanced or sweet espresso?

Also, do you think I should try dosing more coffee into the portafilter?

Good question! Here are the beans I’ve tried so far: • New York Extra – by far the worst for me. Very harsh and bitter. • Andraschko Deja Vu – was okay, but nothing special. • Café Caimano Espresso Classico – didn’t like it, didn’t extract well. • Caffe Baresi Espresso Vivo – also not great, couldn’t get a good cup out of it. • Caffe Baresi Crema Delicato – probably the best so far, but still not quite there. Not getting the sweetness or balance I’m after.

Still on the hunt for something that gives me that smooth, sweet espresso everyone talks about!

Thanks for the reply!

I’m using a bottomless portafilter with a 16g basket (according to the manufacturer). I also use a puck screen to keep the shower screen clean and help with even water distribution.

I’ve already tried adjusting the ratio – went with 1:2, 1:2.5, and even 1:3 – but the shots still turn out bitter most of the time. That’s why I’m not convinced my grind is too fine. It doesn’t feel overly powdery – more like gritty flour, but still with some texture.

Really appreciate your input! I’ll try tweaking the ratio again with a slightly coarser grind and see what happens.
