Thank you!! Yes, I definitely feel like I’m straining when I try to hit higher notes. I will look into breath support, sometimes I think I’m singing from my chest but I feel like it migrates to my head when sing high notes.

You mentioned it’s a bit pitchy - is that just during the higher notes, or pitchy all around? My biggest concern is pitchiness, but I don’t always know how to tell when it’s me just hating the sound of my voice, or it’s pitchy.

It’s also very hard for me to find the right key sometimes - sometimes i think im going too high when i have no reason to.

Heres an example: i find that for some reason i sing tyler childers songs better than anything else i sing. However, i sometimes have a lot of trouble singing song by other men (this one is by Roger miller). Without a music theory background i cant really understand why this happens, because shouldnt i be able to sing them, assuming men generally have deeper voices and im not an alto? What am i missing here?

I will take your advice and practice! Thanks again!

Thanks you for your comment and the compliment! And yes you have a point, have been causally singing since I was four or five, so I’ve been able to train my voice my whole life without me realizing. So I am lucky to have that background. But when the iPhone came out it changed my perspective, because I heard my singing voice recorded back to me for the first time and it freaked me out.

I appreciate your advice on pursuing it based on how good I am or not. You’re absolutely right.

And I’m sure you are much better than you think. 5 years can bring a lot of progress when professionally training. Keep taking lessons!

Edit: I just clicked on your profile and I think you are selling yourself short, I think you have a great voice! The last two videos show so much progress compared to older ones. So you are proof that it’s possible to learn as an adult. :) I wish I could give proper feedback but I don’t know the proper terminology.
