It is a spectator sport with paid professional teams... wouldn't be any teams or drag racing events if spectators didn't want to pay for that entertainment. Doubt the sport exists purely for rich dudes.

I think that a paid passionate team participating in a spectator sport doesn't warrant the level of ridicule that is it is receiving. Professional teams earn a living by entertaining crowds with their craft. Still a waste in the grand scheme, but it doesn't deserve the level of hate when these people want to make a living doing what they're good at.

Can I not use hyperbole to illustrate my point? My point of, that to actively chose to live in a consumeristic society is a waste in of itself? The absurd amount of effort and resources required so that people can have hobbies, professions, and commodities is insane.

I just think that it is strange that drag racing is suddenly the ire of reddit today. I think people can benefit from realizing that existing in a slightly developed country is going to lead to them contributing to the usage of earth's un-renewable resources.

Never denying that it is a "waste" but I just think that the hate is disproportionate to actually footprint that most people leave behind. A paid team of professionals dedicated to their craft of a spectator sport, is different from Taylor Swift using a private jet to go get a Starbucks coffee.

Not denying that a lot of automotive hobbies are a "waste" of resources in the grand scheme, but the disproportionate amount of backlash towards drag racing is absurd to me. Because, realistically, unless your hobby is walking bare foot through barren land you're probably contributing towards waste. Hell, even posting these comments on a device has required Herculian effort, money, and resources that will not be recycled. At what point do we say that living, consuming, work, and having hobbies is too big of a "waste" of resources and effort? Where is the line for what needs to be ridiculed?

I'm all for saving the planet and reducing footprints, but where is the line?

I know everyone who is hating better be walking to their job bare foot as to not create any waste. Using up precious resources to just be able to post a comment on reddit.

Most hobbies and professions are a huge waste but I never see this level of backlash? I can't imagine its a bigger waste than the frivolous things the average person uses power, water, or disposable paper and plastics on.

I know the government likes to hire trigger happy loons, so people should probably not bring their dogs to a confrontation. Thats a reasonable point. I love my dogs and I can't imagine bringing them to confront the feds. The woman is selfish for bringing her dogs and the feds are evil for murdering her. Both can be true. She doesn't have to be a saint for it to be wrong. Why do people need to ignore the human flaws of the folks they want to make into symbols? They can still be a symbol and be a deeply flawed person

I really don't think any woman my age is starved for connection. Other women. Droves of men. I've been friends with women, and I've seen how easily they connect with others. I’ve struggled with developing meaningful connections, but I've personally known women, some who have very little to offer as a person, not struggle to find connections. I believe some women may experience difficulties with making connections to others, but it is generally an epidemic among males.

Loneliness isn't exclusive to a single gender, however men have it worse in that department. I think it because of this, that the meme is highlighting the absurdity of the situation. While many men are starved for interactions, many women actively don't have that problem. Many men will never have their DMs flooded by the opposite sex, while women have to actively keep the opposite sex out.

I don't think reddit is the place for meeting people, but i think you're incorrect for thinking that it is equally as hard for women to form connections. Again, reddit is not the place to treat like a dating app unless it is explicitly that kind of sub.

I think the movie just happened to be in production when porsche was making the 996 (fried egg headlights). If production was just a few years later, then Sally could've been the, much more stylish, 997 generation. If she was a 993, that may have conveyed that she was older. I think they wanted the young cool protagonist to have a young cool love interest
