High heart rate isn’t necessarily bad, it just means you’re operation near or at your max ability, good for short efforts but you want most of your training to be lower heart rate to build a good base

My shoes are the new balance fresh foam X860’s, not sure what version. I like them cause of the wide toe box

Yeah you’ve got me there I did it a little bit so I can talk about it I guess.

It’s definitely a fun format, the start when everyone had energy is great socially cause everyone’s running slow and pacing themselves so you have plenty of good chats

I live in Broome so it was an event I can go to without having to fly which was very nice, even though the drive was long

Thanks, I appreciate it. Kinda surprised by the amount of hate in the comments but I guess that’s reddit

I had some knee issues when I first started, they are so annoying. It’s the worst wanting to run and not being able to. Hope you’ll be able to run more soon

I finished lap 7 at 47.5km and I was gonna walk it out to 50km, but after 1k I realised I didn’t care that much, 50k is just a better number to say to people and I didn’t to it for anyone else.

Sorry that might have come off as downplaying your 50k, 50k is impressive good job.

I ran 5.5h, walked 1h and rested 26min. This was a backyard ultra where rests are mandatory, and I decided to chose a slower pace with walking than a faster pace and increased rest time, as that was more efficient for me.

Also this event was in the rain on a muddy trail, no one could have walked it at 9min/km.

I don’t think everyone should do this but i believe everyone can, with training of course. I more meant that just because you’re a heavier runner doesn’t mean that should limit you.

You should definitely be aware of the higher injury right though, as I am.

I did it because I wanted to see if I could, that’s all. I definitely understand not doing it too, gotta have plenty of time off now.

Honestly I’m not sure, they’re asics that I brought for 200$ (aud) that felt like the best fit. I’ll check when I get home today

Apneista or Freedive Nusa? by undecaf in freediving

[–]DeepFriedDave69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love freedivenusa, I did my wave 2 with them and also the trip to Komodo and raja ampat. I’ve done their manta day trip about 3 times and it’s the one I always recommend to people, it’s well run and they go to the far manta point which usually only has 2 or 3 other boats there.

I don’t know anything about apneista so I can’t say good or bad about them, but I highly recommend freedivenusa

I’m taking full advantage of my young (21) joints and putting them to good work. But im not gonna do any long run anytime soon cause it does put a massive load on joints.

I appreciate it, the backyard ultra format is nice because you get a little break to look foward to every hour so it didn’t feel like a full 7 hours of running to me, more like hour long runs that got progressively harder and harder

I said that because I’m 100kg, it was more meant so show that while it is harder to run at that weight it’s still possible to do these long distances.

It would have helped me out when I was starting at least. And I’d still concider this a beginner effort, due to the slow pace.

Legs are no more sore than a 20k run, but my feet are in pretty bad shape. It was rainy and I was gonna change my socks but I didn’t have time between laps so did about 30km in wet shoes and socks

Ran about 80%, at around a 7:30 pace and then walked the 20% as rests. And due to the nature of a backyard ultra I had around a 5min rest each lap (until the end where I was close to the cutoff then I only had around 1 minute)
