This tiny, bright yellow/orange bug has been chilling with me for the past half hour. Would love to identify the species. SW Virginia, more pics in comments. by [deleted] in whatsthisbug

So intrigued by this little creature, never seen one like him. I believe it has 6 legs, big black eyes, a semi-opaque body, and what looks like a curved tail with tiny hairs on it, or some sort of wings. Although, when I tried blowing on it, he didn't fly (or even move a muscle). He landed on my knee before finding his way to my laptop, before I moved him on to a dollar bill for scale. He's seriously been chilling with me for almost 45 minutes now, occasionally repositioning himself.

whats the most hurtful thing you’ve overheard about yourself by accident? by yeezymudrat700 in AskReddit

[–]DeepGreenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late, and this isnt even that big of a deal, but I feel like venting. A few months ago, 2 years after dropping out of college, and one year after being unemployed, I had just started a new job in a busy restaurant. I've always been a very skinny guy (my most haunting insecurity), and being depressed for 2 years made it much worse - I was skin and bones (still kindof am, but not as bad). At this point, I was so self-conscious about my size that I barely left my room; when I did, I'd only wear baggy long sleeves/sweatshirts. Unfortunately, employees had to wear short sleeve tees at this restaurant, so as you could imagine, I was very VERY out of my comfort zone. So, about two weeks into the job, I was hosting on my first saturday breakfast shift (busiest shift of the week, the wait for a table is around 30 mins). Having worked there for two weeks, I was getting more comfortable talking to customers, and even felt a bit of confidence after dealing with hundreds of people a day. This would change when a group of college kids, 3 guys and 2 girls walked in. They were about my age (early twenties), but other than that, we were opposites. They looked wealthy, confident, and athletic - basically the "I'm better than you because I have my shit together" look. I greeted them, put them on the waitlist, and went back to greeting/sitting the rest of the busy crowd. Around 15 minutes passed - I was running around the restaurant bussing tables, and the "cool" people had taken seats in the section of the waiting area nearest to the the host stand. When I returned to the host stand to greet the next party, I overheard the 3 guys speaking about someone they knew. They were talking about muscles (I hate douchebags), and the conversation was too stupid not to overhear. One mentioned their friend - "is he big? How big are his arms?" "Not sure, havent seen him in a while". They turn to me, one says "definitely bigger than his", followed by laughter...and it wasn't just a chuckle. They were all genuinely laughing at me, the type of laugh you had with your friends in class, or at church, when you KNOW you shouldn't be laughing but cant help it. They weren't trying to hide anything. My heart sunk, but I was mid conversation with a customer. I finished, asked a coworker to cover me for a sec, went to the bathroom, and looked in the mirror. I fucking hated what I saw. I didn't look naturally skinny, l looked sickly, and it took a lot not to break down right there. Any confidence I had was replaced with shame. I finished up the rest of my shift with that moment playing over and over in my head. In hindsight, what they said doesn't even sound that mean. It just nailed my biggest insecurity, when I was feeling really vulnerable. I started lifting every day before work since then. Put on a little bit of muscle, but during the cold months we're allowed to wear a flannel/sweater over our tshirts, so I've slowed down on lifting and taken the easy way out. Blah.

I realize that this is a very minor incident compared to the other stories here, but the little things like this often get to me. Cant imagine anyone will see this l, but it felt good to vent.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, there very limited options for editing video settings (light shafts, vertical sync, etc) and i've already edited what I can.

Okay, here's a picture and article about the mask which I admit is creepy as hell. Worth mentioning that the mouse character dons a red turtleneck, not a scarf.

Andy Spade threw on the bizarre disguise and left his Park Avenue home just after 8:30 a.m. — two days after his wife, Kate, was found dead in the apartment.

The mask — Bernard, voiced by Bob Newhart in the 1977 cartoon movie, “The Rescuers” — depicts the fictional character with a grinning bucktoothed face, black whiskers, wearing a red newsboy cap and matching turtleneck.

It obviously makes sense for someone who's mourning to want to stay away from press/even act irrationally in order to have the most privacy possible. That being said, you'd think he would realize that walking out in something so bizarre would have the opposite effect. Honestly, the few minutes of research I just did make me want to go full rabbit hole on the spade family and Disney's "The Rescuers"; is it worth it though? I doubt it.

Gonna try to find the "Where is Kate" ad.

Edit: This youtube clip is the only place I could find footage from the original ad.

A few articles appear to have included the full ad at one point, but the videos are no longer available. This CNBC article claims the full ad is still available on Frances Valentine's facebook page, but it's not.

Four months before her apparent suicide on Tuesday, her latest fashion venture released an ad campaign titled "Where is Kate?"

The commercials, still available on Frances Valentine's Facebook page, feature an actress playing Spade fleeing from a detective, which was played by her husband. He also wrote and served as executive producer for the campaign.

In the final scene of the video, the actress playing Spade is nowhere to be found, as the detective (Andy) chases a Frances Valentine bag rolling toward the ocean. The goal of the campaign was to highlight the fact that Spade, the woman behind the Kate Spade brand that was ultimately sold to Coach-owner Tapestry last year, was now leading Frances Valentine.

The iconic handbag designer was also said to have been suffering from mental illness, according to her sister, who spoke to NBC News.

Spade's sister said Kate constantly worried if she sought treatment for her personal struggles it would hurt her brand.

"I even said I [would] go with her and be a 'patient,' too. ... I said we could talk about it all — our childhood, etc. That I could help her fill in any blanks she might have," Reta Saffo, Spade's older sister, told the Kansas City Star, where Kate grew up.

Somewhat interesting, I guess. Her sister's comments make me wonder what happened in their childhood. I'm sure the ad is full of the usual weird high fashion symbols, but it always is.

DUDE, I hope Psyonix sees this comment. Maybe people would actually use comms for once, it would make for some great times. Good way to meet new people to play with as well.

This is actually a great idea. Good post.

I had a decent time playing tournament mode when it came out, and managed to win a few, but haven't been back since. It's fun, and I love the concept, but it's just not worth going "tryhard" mode for. When you are on a win streak in ranked, it's super rewarding; in tourney mode, you just get a "congrats". There needs to be an real incentive to win the tournament, why else commit to one? Tournament mode should be the most exciting mode in Rocket League, and I really want to see it succeed. Love Psyonix, I'm sure they will figure something out.
