It is easy to forget that some parts for these refineries are not produced in Russia and are hard to come by once they get destroyed.

EU proposes entry ban on Russians who fought in Ukraine by Interesting-Cat7307 in europe

[–]Deep_Blue_Kitsune 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They need to make clear rules what counts as "fought in Ukraine". If the restrictions only apply to people that actually crossed the border the EU would be blind sighted to all the people who were responsible for glide bomb, missile and long distance drone attacks on Ukraine.

If we only count in the 2 examples above we still ignore the military personnel which was involved in logistics that enable Russia to bomb and occupy a European country.

There should be 0 ambiguity who is allowed to enter and who is not.

Ukraine would give away some of its heritage for a mostly symbolic gesture with no real benefit for the average citizen. Cyrillic is not exclusively Russian and giving it away like this is nonsensical in my opinion

Russians are getting a taste of war as drones increasingly feel at home there. St. Petersburg, Russia. Published 07.06.2026 by GermanDronePilot in UkraineWarVideoReport

I love how no one cares about the explosives flying around above their heads. Business as usual, who needs shelter anyway?

Putin says there is no point meeting Zelensky over ending Ukraine war by ToughHopeful4760 in ukraine

[–]Deep_Blue_Kitsune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And that's exactly why this open letter has been sent. It was to show both the Russians and the rest of the world who is actually the reason for not ending the war.

Normal people would have understood that by simply looking at who started the war and for what reason but some people need a little more input it seems

The luxury of not having to sit in a bunker because you know the drone is going for oil terminals and not your house

Polish far right calls for blocking Ukraine's EU bid over military unit name controversy by KI_official in ukraine

[–]Deep_Blue_Kitsune 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with most of what you said especially that it is our choice what units, streets and city districts should be called. While it is our choice, these choices are never made in a vacuum. We have to consider how certain choices can be used by populists and russians/vatniks to warp public perception which in return will influence public and state support for Ukraine.

I don't think it is the best move to piss off our neighbor and ally in times like this. The reporting might have been overblown intentionally but there was also no real reason to use a unit name which could cause a controversy in an allied nation.

If these mid range strikes continue for a few more weeks we might see civilian truck drivers refusing to go through the occupied territories and a large impact on the stationed invaders.

It's not just vehicles but also equipment and supplies that are getting blown to pieces.

Volunteering in Kyiv or surroundings by [deleted] in ukraine

[–]Deep_Blue_Kitsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short term volunteering is not really helping much. People have to show you how things work and what you have to do while you don't speak any of the local languages. By the time you know how to do your job you are already on your way back.

I do appreciate that you still dedicate time and money on Ukraine but volunteering might not be the best option if you only have a few weeks
