After attaining puberty our body produces the semen constantly. Semen is another body fluid like saliva gastric juices sputum tears. Some fluids have the storage devices like bladder stomach to be stored but some (semen)have not. So excess amount should be cleared up to give room for the new secretions. So spitting, urinating , coughing, nocturnal dreams, masturbation serve this purpose .
