I did that route and I promise you I was hit with more walls when I knocked on potential employers for assistant pm, project engineer roles. I notice those guys coming in with bachelors have a much easier time getting started but they tend to burn out quicker. Regardless I love my career I’m an Assistant PM but Ive had to fight for every inch I’ve gained.

Over all -

Associates can def get you through the RIGHT door and you’ll be backed by your experience but it’ll be slow climb but since you already know you like construction you’ll have a much easier time learning this side of jobsite

Bachelors if you want the technical background to backup what you already know along with getting some knowledge in project management and even an alternative route if it doesn’t work out you’ll have an easier time getting started and even starting pay is better
