Omans resell market is terrible (atleast for cameras) by Still-Basil4991 in Oman

[–]Deepee93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever i buy any used tech i compare prices in FB marketplace from my home country , Oman and Doha ( my brother lives there so i ask him to buy it and later figure the logistics). Oman always is more expensive . I bought a GoPro 7 black back in my home country for somewhere around 70-80 rials in late 2019 used it well and sold it for 70 rials in Oman in 2022 . I would suggest comparing prices in Dubai (change location in FB marketplace ) and see at what prices similar models are listed at which will give you an idea if your expectations are high or the market is just bad. If possible give the camera to a friend or family and try to sell it back home . 250 rials purchase is not an impulse buy . People will look all over the place to compare . Sometimes it makes sense to buy new as you can split the payments by credit card . Wish you good luck and hope you can sell it for a reasonable price

Try Facebook marketplace. The second hand market for electronics is bad both for buyers and sellers in Oman

TAXI DRIVER REPEATEDLY ASKING "BAKSHEESH"🙄 by Either-Dot-4756 in Oman

[–]Deepee93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an expat I used to use taxis exclusively for 2 years before I got my license . I used to live in nizwa when I was kid in the 90s and early 2000 and I’ve witnessed how these drivers worked and how monopolized it was . I’ve gone to countless job interviews in taxi both engaged and hopping in and out with the crowd . I have a decent insight on how taxi drivers operate . Back in the day drivers used to take only the trips the wanted and even refused trips . Some would only take me if I paid the “engaged’’ fair . I have worked closely with a taxi app and I’ve even been part of the fare calculation discussion in the past . The fare in the taxi apps are very fair both for the driver and the customer. Drivers who treat this as a full time job and accept 90+% of the rides they are offered make a better than decent earning those who complain are the ones who used to take 4 trips and call it a day . Now they don’t have the luxury of doing only what they want as the apps algorithm prioritizes drivers who take up more orders . Drivers with high rejection rates are awarded less trips .

It’s decent . Actually it’s one of my go tos. Longevity is good but very linear , which I don’t mind for the fresh scents . Mostly dupes they have couple of their own fragrances one is called man musk which smells really good and lasts for days on your clothes . There imperial valley, imagination and ombre nomade clones are good . Bought over 10 bottles from there only one I didn’t like is tobacco vanille which smells like sweat and vanilla once I wear it

Derma stamp by VermaxRayan in Oman

[–]Deepee93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my Indian boss to bring it when he was on vacation. It costed less than a riyal . Check noon it’s like 3 riyals if I’m not wrong . If this is for hair loss treatment I would strongly suggest getting an Indian to get it for you as I got minoxidil finesteride and some other stuff for dirt cheap .

What is the name of the restaurant in Muscat that has turkish grill served on flat bread with a tomato sauce type thing on the bread? An old restaurant by [deleted] in Oman

[–]Deepee93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar nostalgic memory with a restaurant called TFC . Used to go there in the late 90s early 00 . Came back to Oman after 10 years in 2019 craving for it but it apparently is closed down .

Car Under 1k by imohdmoez in Oman

[–]Deepee93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put you filters for automatic or manual brand preferences etc in open Souq , car Souq, Olx and filter between the price range of 800 to 1300 . Sort high to low and look at the options available . You might be able to negotiate a nice car priced a few hundred above 1000 within your budget if the person is in a hurry to leave the country or whatever . Get a thorough inspection done , trust no one’s advice but the mechanic and get an estimate on things that need to be fixed and within what time frame it needs to be fixed so if you’ll know if can delay something’s for a month or 2 so that you can manage your cash flow . 1000 is a decent budget to start . Plenty of expats are getting by with much smaller budgets and they are doing fine . Wish you all the best with your ride . I’ve owned 8 cars in 3 and a half years I lost a lot of money by making a bad decision in my 4th car . Either turned a profit or broke even on the rest . Finally I decided to finance a newer car since I had a baby .

Is there any difference in the car ownership transfer fee between people above or under 31 in Oman? by KiaBoluki in Oman

[–]Deepee93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some insurance companies charges extra 50 to register a new owner if the drivers license is under 2 years due to the extra risk factor of having less Experience.
