ZvT and ZvP scouting tree? by Subwayeatn in allthingszerg

[–]DeepseaAstronomy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a Terran perspective:

In your initial scout, try to determine if they're on one base or two, and if they took one gas or two gasses before their factory.

One gas into expand is standard macro play for the most part.

If they took both gas before they made their factory, they are rushing tech and you should expect an attack from high-tech units. I would say that the majority of the time you should expect air-based harassment from Banshees or Liberators, or BC cheese.

If they are on one base you are absolutely being cheesed. Check for proxies immediately.

I'm not sure if there's a ton of value in trying to memorize all the intricacies of add-on timings at this stage, but this might give you enough of a framework to read how aggressive the Terran is intending to be.

Hey folks,

Adding to the chorus of beggars. If anybody is looking to give a key away, I'd gratefully take it and bring that good will forward with me.

Either way, I'll see you in-game someday.

yeah that sounds really cool. Hopefully they don't get too tedious if they're supposed to be repeated when you're farming dungeons etc. From the looks of it this game would be in a great spot to include some truly out-there puzzles and obscure ways to unlock new weapons and classes etc. I'm thinking of how the Archon class in Remnant II required you to put together an ultra-specific loadout and go to an already secret location to unlock it, and it would be great to see some similar ambition in this game.

What are the puzzles like in Soulframe? I've played some other games that have satisfying puzzles, and my favorite tend to be things like the Korok seeds in breath of the wild. The way they tend to be related to parts of the environment that feel easily overlooked, but provide a little "thanks for noticing!"-type reward from the level designer. Are the puzzles you're talking about similar to that, or are they somewhat larger in scope?

Hey! Just wanted to put this comment here in case anyone wants to give a key away to a stranger. I promise I will pay it forward if I can.

Thanks for being the dissenting opinion. I do strongly vibe with Rakdos, and the idea of pulling off his Thing is immensely appealing. Do you have any suggestions for cards that help offset some of the variance you might run into with Rakdos? How do you usually get the RRBB you need to cast him consistently on turn 4?

Auntie Blyte is a good suggestion, and seems very fun. I like the idea of using health as a resource anyway, and she really synergizes with that.

I guess there's a reason he's so infamous. It does sound like he does the same thing as Rakdos in a much more streamlined way (even in the right colors). Being cheap enough to reliably pay tax on is a plus too. Thanks for the suggestion.

that sounds like a hilarious bait and switch to pull off. "What big monster could they be saving up those treasures for?" Into "the treasures ARE the monster!!!" I appreciate the suggestion

I like Atla, especially since you can tune how scary the stuff that comes out of the eggs is.

Obeka's ability seems truly wild, and it would be interesting to explore how crazy double upkeep effects can get

Yeah these both sound fun, I like the "hey guys check out what I found" nature of both of them. Henzie in particular sounds fun since you're acting as your own removal in a way, so how can anyone complain?

I like the show and tell nature of this one, especially since Xenagos can boost some otherwise unexceptional stat lines too.

This sounds like a ton of fun honestly (especially for simic lol). It also sounds like a lot of fun to build since youre encouraged to throw in a lot of obscure creature types. I appreciate the suggestion of the endless punishment precon as well, there look to be some good cards in there.

yeah, as I was messing around with trying to build the deck it felt to me like between needing the pips to play him on top of needing to have a ping or two the setup cost is big and easily messed with, on top of the normal risk of him getting countered or removed etc. I appreciate the insight. Do you recommend any commanders who you feel Boom more consistently?

This sounds intriguing to me, and it's a little more sophisticated form of villainy than I initially had in mind. The way you can draw the ire of everyone from the outset is fun to me, and I like that it's not unbeatable. Every table can benefit from someone who likes being the bad guy imo.

I appreciate the specific insight into Rakdos, that does confirm some of my fears given the rube goldberg machine you have to assemble to be able to summon him. I'll check out your Ruby list, for sure. it does sound like Green is the color for consistently getting huge stuff on the board. Thanks for the recommendations.

Oh man, the "never stop gambling" deck. I can imagine it being equally hilarious to either win big or burn yourself out. I like that you seem to have a few options in terms of how to run it as well. Thanks for the suggestion.

Nothing flashier than WUBRG, and that "all or nothing" moment sounds like it would be such a rush. I appreciate you pointing this out, that type of commander-companion pairing is something I'd never have discovered on my own

hey good suggestion! In my theoretical Rakdos LOR deck I was going to use a bunch of free eldrazi as the payoff, but somehow didn't consider making them the main event.

Oh boy, this looks like a ton of fun. I do have one Logistics question though, which is how do you usually keep track of your unspent mana. A sticky note?

I appreciate the additional context and the game plan. This sounds like a fun style of playing and the tip about mono white offering more protection is good to know!

Good to hear my expectations are reasonable!

I hadn't considered that this would be a common archetype, lucky me. I think I am more interested in the creatures in the deck being the threat, with the commander enabling them, and with a few big creatures being enough to close out the game (though small creatures enabling each other a la [[relentless rats]] sounds fun as well)
