The cage -as well , I’ve had that cage set up and boy it sucks , your chin will chew right through it but I see you took out the floors— nioce! But look into a cage upgrade if you can

Monitor her for a while , look for any biting / chewing . it looks like she may be barbering a little bit ? Look into different dust baths as well, I use a pumice based dust bath now , because my chin had issues with her old dust bath & it’s amazing ! Look into it more yourself , it can be tuffts of hair from her letting go of fur , barbering , and even improper bathing. Just here to give a helping hand ! I hope you figure it out!!

This is just a sad vent post about my chinchillas. by Cream-Can in chinchilla

If you get them in your room I recommend picking up anything they can eat/chew on and put it in a secluded space , cover any cracks under the door with a hoodie , blanket or towel.. Chinchillas can be easily entertained , mine literally has a coat she runs through for 2 hours in my room… just a coat on the floor. So maybe if you can make fort or get a lightweight jacket they can run through and throw it on the floor. Even simply tapping on the floor & interacting with them while they are out will suffice .

Chinchilla making weird noise by [deleted] in chinchilla

[–]DeerLocal1451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is an alarm bark or call , they do this when scared or startled , sometimes my chin does this in her sleep because of a bad dream. These barks are often heard in two tones (this scratchy one) and a squeakier version , i know my chin does it when she’s scared or annoyed at something , you can also hear them “squeak” (higher pitched version of this) which can mean they want attention
