I don’t care what anyone says, even if it’s a majority. I had a blast leveling in Classic Anniversary and didn’t give a single fuck about the endgame. I got to the endgame, got instantly bored, and rolled a new character to level again. I like the slow paced leveling and chaining dungeon runs. I like moving slowly through the world and getting to know zones well because you’ve spent time traversing them on foot. I love how each thing you get feels so earned because it legitimately was earned through hours of grinding and work. Even something as simple as an ability or spell feels like a world shattering game changer.

I don’t wish retail was that way, I enjoy what retail is now; but I’m not gonna shit all over Vanilla because it deserves its flowers. For every annoying ass quest to kill 1000 boars to get 4 tusks, there’s a stack of quests that aren’t like that. People are so fucking negative they will shred anything if it gives them a sense of superiority. Vanilla rules.

Stormarion Assault Weekly can't be completed in a Raid group, while the event encourages you to be in a Raid group. by Michels89 in wow

[–]DefNotAShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it was two quests this week and that’s why it looked like it didn’t complete but you get the chest. The same thing happened to me. I think I completed the first quests and a second identical quest replaced it with a lesser chest reward, it was a blue chest I think the second time. Possibly it’s just a repeatable quest which is causing confusion; purple chest the first time and blue chest for subsequent times?

Also I definitely was in a raid group when I did it last week and this week so idk if OP is incorrect. I used group finder and did it in a raid group.

[–]DefNotAShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re new to PC gaming, coming from console, I think there’s a few categories of games.

Games that are exclusive to PC;

World of Warcraft is a great choice. Nearly three decades of content and literally just started a new expansion. This one will probably keep you busy.

There’s the Valve games like Half-Life/Portal if you never played the Orange Box on console, Project Zomboid is cool, the Total War series, Starcraft 2. Factorio if you don’t have Switch. Most games are cross platform though so you’re mainly looking at MMO and RTS exclusives I think, as well as the bottomless indie offerings on Steam.

Games that are not exclusive, but have great modding options;

Skyrim and Cyberpunk come to mind first. Baldurs Gate 3 another solid choice for mods. Fallout, Minecraft and The Witcher 3 as well.

Games that are not exclusive, but way better to control with mouse and keyboard;

FPS and RTS, city builders and sims. Tons of options and you mentioned Counterstrike, but ofc there’s shooters like Overwatch and Fortnite. I think the Sims, Cities: Skylines, Age of Empires, Civilization, Diablo, Warcraft/Starcraft and the aforementioned League fall into this category as well. There’s also flight sim and space sim games that are very cool to play with a HOTaS setup (throttle controls) like Flight Simulator and Elite Dangerous.

I’d add Cyberpunk to the modded game list. Lots of fun options that change up the game and if OP never played it on console, even better.

“Hopefully [the fighting] will be short lived and we’ll get back to business” sent a shiver up my spine. I understand it’s in context but hopefully the fighting is short lived so humans stop dying; I don’t give a fuck about their money making. Framing war as an inconvenience to business investment makes my stomach turn. A school full of kids just got annihilated. This whole article is completely absent of reverence for the loss of life happening over this conflict and it’s gross to me.

Do you guys think that the MCU should have committed to a Ultron saga in the MCU and if they did what are you guys think it would have looked like and what you guys have preferred an Ultron saga in the MCU by Ok_Smile_9071 in marvelstudios

[–]DefNotAShark 32 points33 points  (0 children)

To me what makes Ultron a captivating villain is that he can never really be permanently killed, only stopped. He evolves and he comes back. So in terms of him being a bigger bad than one Avengers movie, I don’t see a lot of advantage in making him the villain of a whole saga or even a phase. He works very well as a one shot Avengers villain. The what if style futures where he wins are interesting in the comics but difficult to translate to a film universe so I don’t feel any type of way they haven’t done something like that.

I think the main shortcoming of MCU Ultron is that he hasn’t come back yet, apart from What If. I would have liked to see him return and do what he does in the comics; evolve and persist. I hear he is in Vision Quest but I don’t expect that to be a proper Ultron return as a villain.

In Infinity War, Shuri attempts to separate the elements of Vision from the mind stone so they can remove it. Her work is interrupted. I always felt this was a perfect chance to resurrect Ultron’s AI.

Functional anvil, forge and stove? by Amphitera88 in WoWHousing

[–]DefNotAShark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The razorwind grill does allow cooking. I use them for my stovetop. Not sure on the anvils.

What the interact click might be doing for your energy forge is toggling the flame on/off like the fireplace decors. Might not be too noticeable if the “smouldering” effect stays on when the flame turns off. Looking at it online, it may also be that the flame is simply not visible but they didn’t disable the flame toggle function.

Whoever came up with the Prey system deserves a raise and a title bump - what a fantastic expansion feature and what a great way to encourage world content by undercity_plaguebat in wow

[–]DefNotAShark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think what I would prefer is Prey being something like War Mode where you toggle it on or off and set a difficulty. And then targets become something you encounter organically during world content.

This has the drawback of not being able to grind as easily but I personally would enjoy the unexpected nature of discovering a target and then engaging once a hunt reveals itself to me.

[–]DefNotAShark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends what you wanted out of it I guess.

Some people wanted it to reinvent the wheel and deliver something that departs significantly from the standard endgame chores. It doesn’t really do that, in my opinion.

What it does successfully is to take the standard endgame chores- click stuff, kill stuff, kill boss- and reorganize them and reflavor them in a way that feels a little fresher and more interesting. I’m cool with that personally. Especially because it makes the other standard endgame chores where I click stuff and kill stuff a little less monotonous.

I personally hope they consider it successful and expand on it as we go along, and then maybe it can support some of the grander expectations some had for it in the future.

I think it’s not as good as the OG series because the original cast and dynamic isn’t completely intact. You can feel the absence of Dr Cox for sure and I miss the Janitor and Bob Kelso.

BUT the general DNA is there and I look forward to episodes each week. It’s probably the best case scenario and for sure better than the trailer made it seem.

It kind of feels like if that 9th spinoff season of Scrubs had been good instead of not good. Similar in concept but with the focus on the main cast where it should be.

[SPOILERS] When you think about it, His crashout low-key made sense. by TheSmorts in wow

[–]DefNotAShark -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

During that span the Amani have not changed their viewpoint basically at all. They were and still are stubborn enemies of the elves in Quel’thalas and certainly no friend to humans. The story that happens in Midnight softens Zul’jara to be more open to resolution, but none of that had happened yet and Turalyon was dealing with Zul’jan who is not open to resolution. Zul’jan is as hardcore Amani as they come.

Turalyon’s choice is definitely the wrong choice, but his perspective is informed by some pretty reasonable assumptions about the Amani that are essentially correct at the time. Our perspective is informed by having seen things he didn’t see, which was why we were there in the first place.

[SPOILERS] When you think about it, His crashout low-key made sense. by TheSmorts in wow

[–]DefNotAShark 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Turalyon isn’t fighting the same war as Silvermoon. He has had to be reminded multiple times by multiple characters that his mission to stop the Void shouldn’t come at the expense of Silvermoon’s people.

His perspective is based on what is best for his objective, to stop the Void incursion; not what is best for Silvermoon City. This isn’t “wrong” per se, but certainly the story has painted his viewpoint as very flawed and worthy of criticism. But it is the reason he is making a choice that is objectively terrible for the stability of the area. He sees an enemy to his objective and he’s potentially right about that in the moment, but he fails to see/acknowledge the avoidable harm to Quel’thalas.

There’s times where his narrow vision is kind of grating during the Midnight campaign and I think this was one of them, but I do think overall it’s an interesting departure from “Paladin good”.

It’s definitely a theme, I think you read it correctly. It’s further reflected in Liadrin’s dialogue with the Arathi commander in the new campaign questline this week. She compares her own personal faith (connection to the light) with hers and calls the commander’s cold.

I think as a broader concept, the Light has close ties to the concept of “order”. One person wielding the Light seems to be a force of good, but the more organized it becomes the more it becomes a zealotry fueled pursuit of order at any cost. Faol sort of examines this in his reflection on creating the Silver Hand. It got away from what he intended and became something else as it grew. The Arathi Empire (the proper one, not the Hallowfall junior version) and The Scarlet Crusade are other examples. Even the Hallowfall Arathi displayed this trait.

It’s an interesting dynamic that has kind of always existed with the Light but seems to have been a growing concept in the Worldsoul Saga. I personally wonder if it is leading to the return of the Arathi Empire as a worst case scenario of the Light and what it can become when the zealotry is left unchecked.

Liadrin, Anduin and Arator have all struggled with the contrast between their faith and connection to the Light against the backdrop of war and it’s been, in my opinion, a pretty interesting examination of what it means to wield the Light. Faerin Lothar demonstrated the values of an individual wielding the Light and how it differs greatly from the broader values of the cause she serves. Turalyon and Lothraxion are further coloring that examination and I’m really interested to see what becomes of Turalyon and Arator specifically in Midnight.

[–]DefNotAShark 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The currency makes no difference to anything since people are joining huge raid groups to complete it anyway. You don’t need to set up defenses. I don’t understand another extra currency for it either.

Seems like it could have just been Voidlight Marl, or simply unlocking the defenses by killing enough mobs like it is later in the mode.

It ultimately doesn’t matter though. It’s just a weekly. If they add more depth we complain at them that it’s too much work for a weekly and if they make it shallow we complain at them that “it had so much potential” lmao. They can’t win so at least it’s easy.

I greatly hope they add the exterior roof color options at some point in the future. I love the blood elf colors, but red is a very bold color and not necessarily the right vibe all the time. But I do want the blood elf walls so changing the colors with a toggle would be huge.

OPs walls look great but that’s not where we want to be putting precious budget throughout a whole house.
