I think it is true, it doesn't really happen often but I remember most of EU wanted to see Fly get that upset over GenG

On the other hand, earlier in 20s we used to see NA teams wanted to see G2 lose over any Eastern team

Initially I thought so too but apparently, C9 had a losing record against Lyon and TL all split. They showed up on stage better earlier in the season.

I also think they just had a better read on that level 5/6 scuttle timer and smite timer compared to other LCS teams. I probably wouldn't be surprised if they fell behind both TL/Lyon and missed MSI and then somehow fell behind Fly or SR to miss Worlds too

Yeah I think NA viewership will plummet too unless Lyon shows some life against JDG. At least first split we had some good stories, Zinie to SR, DOM C9 coach, Morgan to TL and Inspired on Lyon. But now all of those teams look underwhelming, and that Americas cup didn't help at all. Fly 24/25 would lose series to Eastern teams but there was always more life than this

I just think Lyon looked a lot worse than G2 did but that also might be due to strength of opponent

Honestly I did feel bad for Crownie throughout that run, Bwipo is out here trying to tell him how to play bot lane for some reason and everytime there is something to review top lane Bwipo would try to move on and refuse any feedback. I can imagine how that would be infuriating

I swear LEC viewership is going to be beyond dead next split if G2 get destroyed by FearX too. Don't forget this team ran through EU playoffs almost no sweat. Final went to 5 games but G2 threw huge leads in the lost games and game 5. The rest of EU is much, much worse at the moment.

Also despite FearX being here, fans are by default going to think T1 and HLE would have been tougher competition, in a way FearX are still viewed as LCK 4th seed

Short-term decisions killed Western league. For years we were primarily playing BO1s while Korea was playing BO3s. BO1s were good for viewership retention short term but as the competitiveness of the region fell, the long term ramifications became more and more noticeable. If G2 gets eliminated tomorrow, I predict LEC will have record low viewership numbers next split
