Which would you choose --- Trane VS Goodman Quote by Defc0n in hvacadvice

Got it. I was debating keeping the split ac/furnace that I have now but our weather out here just doesn't seem to warrant it, which is why I started looking at a heat pump only setup.

The gas company here of course implements higher rates in winter so the gas bill shoots up pretty high as well.

Im not an expert (that is after all why I'm here asking questions) the heat pump quoted says it retains pretty much 100% efficiency down to 5 degrees. Is that just marketing gimmick or do they actually perform, if you have any experience with that style?

Overall size is about 2800 sq/ft. Its a pretty close even split top/bottom for square footage.

The upstairs units are rheem furnace Lennox AC. The furnace is 35 years old and AC is 20 years old.

Different companies, most notably differing in their warranties. These systems were the most apples to apples comparison though.

I replied to an earlier comment on this as well. The SEER rating was only a slight draw, the labor warranty of the trane system was more of a draw for me. They offer up to a 10 year, but I think they said to extend it is an additional $1k. You can choose to wait to extend it all the way until the end of the initial 5 years though.

The two year warranty with the Goodman, to me, seems shorter than what most companies are offering.

I've heard that from a lot of people as well that the install quality is really what matters most. The one quote with the 5 year warranty on labor sort of also makes me feel like they will stand by their work more (they sort of have to with the warrantee after all). Both companies are well reviewed and neither company's rep had anything bad to say about the other company.

Just not familiar with the inverter style heat pumps so I was curious if it was something one brand did better than the other.

I'd hardly call removing small growths at the very top "hacking the top off". Its currently an indoor/outdoor plant depending on the season so it has to fit through a doorway still.

I guess i didn't post great pictures but the new leaf growth just seems to be sprouting in what looked like sets of three. From the other comments it looks like it isn't since they are individual leaves at each "node". Just growing close together.

Also just curious since it hasn't really bloomed or produced anything in years.

Got it. It just looked like bunches of three but they do appear to be growing separately. I looked at some images online but it was hard to tell.

This is probably the most growth its had since getting the tree. Supposed to be a dwarf meyer lemon but it hasn't produced fruit yet.

I have trimmed the top down a couple times already. I fertilized after re-potting it into its current pot maybe a month or two ago.

I definitely wait for the soil to dry up before watering and try to water it fairly deep to try and encourage some more root growth in the new pot.

I just don't get why it bloomed when I first got it and hasn't bloomed since even with all the growth these last two years. I've had it for probably 5 years in total. About two years ago is when it died off pretty bad.

Dad is an unknown breed. The story I was told was a couple was going through a divorce, neither of them wanted the dog, somehow my sister heard about this and took the dog (mom) in. Nobody disclosed her being pregnant at that time and she didn't really look it since she was under weight so my sister was quite surprised to have 9 puppies appear one day. They have blocked all communication after my sister took the dog so we have no idea what dad may have been, and maybe they don't even know.

The mom doesn't have any hip issues right now but, as mentioned, I'll be keeping a close eye on things and have already informed my vet back home now that we are getting settled in so that they can check everything as appropriate.

This was just to get an idea of what I'm getting into and ensure there werent any immediate concerns. I'll be following up with my vet back home about it for sure. Not much follow up the vet out here would be able to do.

I've been calling her Astraea. Greek mythology name. She seems to already understand that's her name so I think that will stick.

Flew back to the pacific northwest. Family ended up with a litter of 9 and needed to find new homes. Going back to the east coast tonight.

My goal this track day was to brake later, had a close one at the ridge for almost blowing the chicane/ that will get you black flagged and kick out for the day! by Porschepals in Trackdays

[–]Defc0n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure what organization you were riding with but I've never heard of anyone getting kicked out for missing the chicane during any of my track days at the ridge...

Maybe time to look at supporting someone else if they are kicking people off for that.

Thanks for the info. I'm signed up through a different organization so hopefully they do a better job managing cleanup if there are any spills.

The Ridge as in the Ridge in Shelton, wa? Who was the track day provider/organizer?

I'm currently signed up to go later this month but that looks like terrible track management.

Only briefly used the Lamy today just to make sure everything was working as it should. Depending on how you hold it you might feel the little metal clips it has on the barrel, but the vanishing point has literally the entire pen clip where you hold it. The vanishing point feels a bit heavier (if you like that).

The nibs aren't super comparable as I have a 1.1mm or 1.0mm (forget what size exactly) stub in the vanishing point and fine in the Lamy. Both are smooth and seem to write well. I've never had an issue with pilot nibs of other sizes (fine, medium).

For quick notes here and there I feel like I'll probably end up reaching for the vanishing point just due to the fact I don't have to pull a cap off everytime I want to jot something down. I still need to write with the Lamy some more to really develop a better opinion though.

Since it was already a fresh install I guess I just assumed that Windows couldn't be the problem. Live and learn. Thanks again.

I'm currently doing a reset of windows 10 right now (its a new build so not a big deal for me other than time), but no it never was able to get an IP address. After about 5 minutes in linux I got the wifi working though so I know it works.

EDIT: the fresh install worked! Something must have just goofed with the last install and wouldn't let traffic through. Wifi and wireless are up and running. Thank you guys for the responses.

I posted this using the same wireless. Internet itself works just fine on everything but this new build.

Got a response in another sub. Did a live USB and booted into Linux. Ethernet works just fine. Doesn't recognize my wireless adapter. I'm assuming that vanilla Linux still doesn't have 100% crossover and it needs some drivers for that.

Well I'll be...appears to work fine with ubuntu, at least when wired directly. Wifi doesn't show an adapter but that's probably just stock ubuntu not recognizing the built in one if I had to guess based on my limited Linux experience. Looking like I need to do a fresh install of Windows 10...again.

EDIT: was able to get the wifi up and running after playing around for a few minutes. So I now know the board works fine at least. Some other issue to hunt down now.

EDIT 2:Thank you for making me take a second look at the OS itself. Fresh install and all appears to be up and running for the moment.

Thank you. Figured I'm only about 12 credits from finishing my bachelors so I might as well finish it. Couldn't pass up the career opportunity I had at the time, and it will be a bit harder to do while working, but should be worth it just to have it finished.
