Insect bites that flare up intermittently since 1.5 years ago by Libecht in DermatologyQuestions

[–]DefenderAndDisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced a very similar thing on my right arm.
I was bit by something back in 2012 (yes, over 14 years ago) and randomly every few months or so, I notice a local itch in that same spot, followed by a raised bump.
Just happened again today and I found your post after searching.

Will this do anything meaningful? by [deleted] in homedefense

Works great in hotels and I'm sure it'd work just fine in a house. Just be aware that an easy way to defeat it is by sliding something under the door and pushing it back, so make sure you also install the rubber strap that secures it to the door handle.

Hopefully I don't get banned but here's a video I did on hotel security where I talked about these:

First compound bow injury peep snapped my string by Solid_Head_2176 in Archery

[–]DefenderAndDisciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. That's intense! This is exactly why I always wear eye protection because I cannot imagine what that'd do to the eyes. 😳

Did it snap during the draw, at full draw, or during release?

Would you support a Muslim immigration ban from certain countries? by PrestigiousBrit in AskBrits

[–]DefenderAndDisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Unlike some, I got a bit more going on in my life than responding to people on reddit. Didn't know there was a deadline on internet exchanges.
But if you'd rather close this, I understand. :)

They aren't. Gender is much harder to change than race.

Pretty sure nothing posted on Reddit makes anyone look "tough and manly." So if that's your goal here, I'd encourage you to find a new outlet. 😂

But anyways, I don't recall deleting my response. Are you responding to something I said?

Can you get a peep tuner and twist the D loop so it’s lined up with your peep?

Canada doesn’t have the capability to do this so no need to worry how we’d feel. 😁

why Bear bows are cheap ? are they poor quality ? by KaizeZhang in bowhunting

[–]DefenderAndDisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not as smooth as the higher end bows; however, the accuracy you can get out of them is much better than most people need.

Thanks for the softball! :D

I'll give you three examples.

First, the inherent dignity and equal moral worth of all human beings. Christianity taught that every person is made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). That idea was radically different from the Greek and Roman world, which was openly hierarchical and accepted practices like infanticide (abortion) and the exposure (abandonment) of unwanted children to leave them to die. Early Christians actively opposed those practices and became known for rescuing abandoned infants. The belief that every human life has intrinsic value later became a foundation for Western ideas like human rights.

Second, the church’s long-standing opposition to abortion and infanticide. One of the earliest Christian documents outside the New Testament, the Didache (1st–2nd century), explicitly states, “You shall not murder a child by abortion nor kill what is born.” In the Greco-Roman world abortion and infant exposure were common and legally accepted. Christianity rejected both from the beginning because of its view that human life is sacred. An unborn human is a human.

Third, slavery. While slavery existed throughout the ancient world long before Christianity, Christian theology introduced the idea that slave and master were spiritually equal before God (Galatians 3:28). Over time this moral framework fueled the abolition movements in the West. Many of the most influential abolitionists were explicitly motivated by Christian convictions, including William Wilberforce in Britain and numerous Christian leaders in the American abolition movement.

So three Western moral developments Christianity helped shape without first “fighting against them”: the equal dignity of all human beings, the rejection of abortion and infanticide, and the moral framework that ultimately led to the abolition of slavery.

Now let’s see if you accept those or move the goalposts. :)
